Ascites noted in fetal abdomen

Hi mummies, FTM here. NIPT test is low risk. We had our anomaly scan at 20 weeks, was sent to a specialist to confirm the findings such as ascites noted in fetal abdomen (fluid in baby’s abdomen) and polyhydramnios (high amniotic fluid). Are there any mummies here that is going through / went through something similar. Can share with me how yours worked out? TIA!

Oh mama… I don’t have personal experience with this, but just wanted to send you a hug. ❤️ It must have been really worrying to hear that after a low-risk NIPT…. The positive thing is that you’ve already been referred to a specialist who can investigate further. I’ve seen stories where findings at the 20-week scan needed closer monitoring and the outcome turned out better than initially expected, so try not to lose hope while waiting for more answers. Hopefully some mums here who have gone through fetal ascites or polyhydramnios can share their experiences. Wishing you and baby all the best, and hoping the specialist appointment gives you more clarity and reassurance. 🙏❤️ Hug mamaa
