Itchiness around C-section area

Hi mummies, 2nd time mum here. Currently 16 weeks pregnant. Recently my C-section area been quite itchy and I tend to want to scratch it. Sometimes I think I over did it (Cus is very itchy 😵‍💫) and the skin “tear” and have small patches of blood here and there (is like when you scratch too much at any part of your body, the outer layer broke then became raw and have blood. Lol idk if y’all can imagine or do I make sense?) Isit normal??

That sounds really uncomfortable, and I think a lot of mummies who have had a C-section before can relate to that itchy feeling around the scar, especially during pregnancy when your skin is stretching and changing. You are definitely not alone in this. Since you are scratching to the point where the skin is breaking and bleeding, it would be good to bring it up with your gynae or PD at your next visit, just to make sure there is nothing that needs attention and maybe they can suggest something safe to soothe the area during pregnancy.
