Oh mama, I totally feel you, I remember being so anxious about this exact thing when I was approaching my due date with my second! With my first, I honestly didn't prepare enough and the pushing stage felt so much harder than it needed to be, so I made sure to do things differently the second time around. What really helped me was doing squats and pelvic tilts consistently from about 36 weeks, even just 10-15 minutes a day made a difference in how "open" and ready my body felt, and Kegel exercises help strengthen the pelvic floor so it works with you rather than against you during pushing. Someone in my mum group also mentioned that staying upright and moving around during early labour, walking the corridors, swaying your hips, really encourages baby's head to descend naturally into the pelvis. Do know that dilation typically progresses around 1cm per hour once you're in active labour, so try not to panic if things feel slow, your body knows what it's doing and the nurses will keep a close eye on your progress throughout. The most important thing is to trust the process, breathe through each contraction, and communicate openly with your delivery team so they can guide and support you every step of the way. You are so close, you've got this! That said, do run these tips by your own gynae or midwife since every pregnancy is different and they know your situation best.

Congrats mum, you’re almost there! A few mums I know found gentle walking and hip circles on the birthing ball helpful in the last weeks, and staying upright during labour can feel more comfortable too, but do check with your gynae or midwife based on baby’s position and your situation.
