Mommies, at what month did you file for maternity leave before your delivery? Is working month before your due date still safe?

I stopped working when I was nearly on my 8th month. I can still work but I had a hard time travelling from Pasig to Makati kahit hatid-sundo naman ako that time. Nahihirapan na kasi ako so I decided to go on leave earlier.
