Govt or Private?
Hi all mommies! I just tested positive a few days ago & planning to visit a Dr but not sure if I shld go govt or private… any suggestions please?

Congratulations on your positive result! Both government and private have their own trade-offs, so it really depends on what matters most to you. Government clinics like KK are solid for routine care and they handle high-risk pregnancies really well, the doctors are experienced and it's much more affordable. The downside is wait times can be longer and you might see different doctors each visit. Private clinics tend to give you more continuity (same doctor usually), shorter waits, and a bit more flexibility with appointment timing, but it does cost more out of pocket. A few mums I know started private but switched to government halfway through to save, while others preferred the consistency of private even if it meant budgeting for it. Honestly, if your pregnancy is straightforward so far, government is totally fine and very reliable. If you value that one-doctor relationship or have specific concerns, private might feel more reassuring, it's really about what gives you peace of mind. Either way, worth having a chat with whichever doctor you see first about what the follow-up plan looks like!

You have to see your comfort level and financial capabilities because there will be a lot of commitments ongoing. Some mommies priority is gynae’s choice (if you have any gynae in mind you would like him/her to assist you) and/or hospital. You can consider going for hospital tour too.
