Lovely initiative, would be great to have more mamas supporting each other through this! From what I have heard going around, Dr Chua at NUH is a name that keeps coming up for natural unmedicated births, apparently the staff there are quite supportive of low-intervention approaches, which makes a real difference when you are in the thick of it. There are trade-offs of course, like with any restructured hospital you have to weigh the busier environment against the resources available, so it really depends on your priorities and risk comfort level. My neighbour delivered there and said the team was genuinely respectful of her birth plan, which is not something every mum can say about their experience. Would be good to pool more names and experiences here so we can all go in more informed!

Hi mum, I had a natural birth before also and I remember going in with quite a clear plan but still learning along the way once labour started. I think unmedicated or low intervention birth is possible for some mums, but it really depends a lot on baby’s position, how labour progresses, and also your own pain tolerance on that day. What helped me was staying flexible with my birth plan instead of being too rigid, because things can change quite fast during labour. If you are planning for hypnobirthing or water birth, I think having a supportive gynae and discussing your preferences early really helps a lot too.
