How often should gynae checkup be in the first Trimester and what checks did you do?

I’m in week 9 now. I did my first check in week 4 because Im first time mum and didn’t know what to do or consume for supplements. But my first time was just purely consultation. Second I met my gynae was at week 7 and we did ultrasound and did some swab test because I had some discharge and results was due to yeast infection. And my next appointment now is week 9 coming Friday. Just want to check is the checkup too frequent? Did anyone do NICC test at week 12? Thanks! #f1rstimemom

Hey! Don't worry, you're not checking too frequently at all, especially since you had that yeast infection to sort out. Most mums I know see their gynae around week 8-9 for the first proper scan and then again around week 12 for the nuchal translucency (NT) scan, so your timing sounds pretty normal. Week 9 on Friday sounds like a good checkpoint before you move into the combined screening window. The NIPT test you're asking about, I think you might mean the nuchal translucency scan? That's the one done between weeks 11 to 14, and yes, pretty much everyone does it. It measures the fluid at the back of the baby's neck and gets combined with a maternal blood test (some mums call it the Combined Test), and it's got a high detection rate for chromosomal stuff. A friend went to her gynae at week 12 and did both the NT ultrasound and blood work at the same visit, which was convenient. Some mums do the NIPT blood test separately if they want earlier results, but the combined approach is what most clinics here recommend. Your checkup schedule sounds sensible given you had an infection to manage, but definitely confirm with your gynae on Friday what the plan is for your week 12 screening, they'll let you know if you need anything else before then. All the best with it!
