I'm contemplating between Mount Alvernia and Thompson Medical. Anyone has any experience to share? First time mum here!

Congrats on your first pregnancy, how exciting! My neighbour delivered at Mount Alvernia last year and she said the nurses there are super caring and nurturing lah, very patient especially with first-time mums who dunno what they're doing yet! Someone in my mum WhatsApp group also mentioned it has this really warm, cosy feel, apparently it used to be run by nuns so the culture there is very different, more personal touch kind of vibe. On the other hand, my friend went to Thomson Medical and said her delivery experience was smooth and the doctors were very efficient, though she also mentioned the check-up visits felt quite short and fast-paced lah, like in and out. So I guess if you want that more hand-holding, gentle environment as a first-time mum, a few mummies I know would lean towards Mount Alvernia, but Thomson is also solid especially if your gynae is based there! Best to also check which hospital your gynae is affiliated with first, that usually makes the decision easier!

The rooms were comfortable and the lactation consultant was really helpful too. Can't speak for Thomson but I know quite a few friends who delivered there and also had good experiences, so honestly both are solid choices lah. Maybe visit both and see which one feels right for you — sometimes it just comes down to which doctor you click with! If you go with Thomson, Dr Paul Tseng is very highly recommended and pro natural. Also Dr Tc Chang is very pro natural.
