When to be induced?

I'm about 39weeks 3 days and baby is still high and I'm 0cm dilated. Next appt is in on EDD. Will it make much difference to be induced on EDD vs few days after EDD? Also, how long to wait before induction is needed?

I was induced 3 days after EDD as my fluid my was low. If everything is okay and baby isn’t in distress, can wait for baby’s cue :)
