Ah, I totally get it, that hungry-but-no-appetite thing is so frustrating! The good news is you're eating, and honestly, a Filet O Fish meal isn't something to feel guilty about; plenty of mums I know craved salty, savoury, strong flavours in the first trimester because their taste buds just needed that hit. Your body's telling you something. For dinner when appetite is really gone, try smaller, flavourful portions instead of a full meal, maybe a small bowl of your braised duck teochew porridge (which you already like!), or scrambled eggs on toast with soy sauce, or even a small portion of chicken rice. Greek yogurt with a drizzle of honey and some fruit works too if you want something light but filling. The key is picking foods that feel satisfying to you right now, not what you think you should eat, when you're nauseous, that matters more than perfection. Since you're hungry but struggling with appetite, it might help to eat smaller, more frequent snacks (biscuits with cheese, fruit with peanut butter) rather than forcing three big meals. And don't stress over the occasional indulgent meal, growing a baby is hard work, and your body needs fuel. Just worth checking with your doctor or dietitian if the nausea or appetite swings get worse, but from what you've shared, you're doing fine.

I am 9w4d now, but I felt the same when I was 7 or 8 weeks. always hungry but cannot eat much, very bloated. my husband would get me ABC soup and it helps to settle my stomach and I can eat a little better after. I would also drink milk or eat bread when i cannot eat much, at least something is going in. It really helps to eat many small meals a day instead of 3 proper meals. I am eating about 5 times a day, breaking up lunch and dinner into 2 smaller portions each. Helps me to take in more food and nutrition without feeling so nauseous or bloated. I like fruits as a sweet treat now. Don't feel bad about mcdonalds, I eat maggi too and it makes me feel satisfied and happy for a while. I read that in early stages, the baby will take whatever it needs from the mother, and as long as you are not severely malnourished and you are taking your vitamins, it shouldn't impact the baby very much. Just eat the mcdonalds and maggi in moderation and should be OK. It gets better, I'm now able to tell when I need to eat and when to stop. I am starting to enjoy my meals again. hang in there!

breaking up lunch and dinner sounds great! I will give it a try. thank you 😊
