Hey mama, brown discharge after a cervical check at 39 weeks is actually really common, your cervix is super sensitive right now, and the exam can irritate it a bit. A few mums I know had similar spotting afterwards and it cleared up within a day or two, so don't worry too much. That said, it could also be a sign your mucus plug is coming away, which might mean labour is on the horizon, but honestly it doesn't always mean things happen immediately, some mums waited days after that. Since you're not having contractions yet and the discharge is just bit by bit, it sounds fairly normal, but it's definitely worth a quick call to your doctor or labour ward just to put your mind at ease and check if there's anything else they want to watch for. Better safe than sorry at this stage!
