When to reduce dose of diclectin or stop taking?
I have been taking diclectin regularly as my nausea was 24/7. However, it got a little better after week 12. When I tried to reduce the dose then and skipped my morning dose, I vomited during lunch hence I resumed the 2 pills a day. Now I'm at 14 weeks and wondering if I should try reducing it again. Does anyone have any experience on reducing the dose from taking it regularly?

Hey mama, I feel you, it's such a frustrating balance between managing the nausea and wondering if you still need it! Most mums I've heard from do try reducing around week 13, 14 like you, so your timing sounds right. A few had success tapering down slowly (like dropping one pill at a time rather than skipping a whole dose) before going off completely, and someone in my mum group mentioned she went from 2 pills a day to 1 around week 13, then stopped by week 21 when things settled, so there's quite a range depending on when your nausea actually lifts. The tricky part is that every pregnancy is different; one mum had to stick with her full dose longer because the nausea came back when she reduced too fast, while others found they only needed it on rough days after week 20 or so. Since Diclectin is very safe, it's more about what your body needs right now, maybe try a slower taper (like half a pill less every few days) rather than skipping a whole morning dose, and see if that sits better? Either way, worth running your specific taper plan past your OB or midwife, since they know your pregnancy history and can advise if the nausea pattern you're seeing is typical for where you are.
