Breast feeding

Hi, I gave birth end of Feb. My BF journey was getting better after I had a consultation from the lactation nurse. When I got home I was beginning to produce milk however, my baby jaundice was identified as high risk and so we had to back to and fro hospital and I was feeling so burnout that I hv no energy left to pump. I tried pumping but aft do much effort I only end up with 5ml of milk and i kind of lost hope n feed baby formula. But now that baby is getting better, I tot of giving him breast milk but do you all think it’s possible since I’ve stopped pumping for like 3 weeks already.

its possible...But remember you need to eat more food so you can pump more milk. Dont try to be going on a diet and make sure you drink PLENTY of water. how much milk you produce depends on supply and demand. try to pump more often so you can trick your breast into producing more milk. In fact, try power pumping once a day to up your supply. how it works for power pump is, once a day you pump 20 mins, followed by 10 mins rest followed by 10 min pumping followed by 10 mins rest and do the last 10 min pump again. It will total up to 1 hour. So its 20P-10R-10P-10R-10P. It mimick a baby"s cluster feed and will make ur breast milk produce more milk. Dont feel guilty about giving formula, I also was in the position as you in the beginning. Just remember "Fed is best" so if ur baby is hungry, if there's BM give BM if not, give her formula or do a bit of both until you can slowly up your milk supply. pump 15 mins every 3 hours. At night, normally I would just skip cos Im too tired, but otherwise, try to be consistent. Refrigerate those milk so you can quickly put in bottle warmer when your baby is hungry next.

btw I end up pumping and feeding BM for 6 months and 2 weeks before quiting. Cos Im too tired and drained from working fulltime and being a mum. I work retail so sometimes workplace are not all that supportive about you dissapering to pump hence why I eventually quit. now my baby is 1 year 4 months, let me tell you sometimes my milk stills come out occasionally when I massage my brest so looking back its not impossible for you to pump back again and bring back your supply.

Yes you can, try pump, latch, massage and eat more spinach/cod fish/fenugreek/lactation cookies if your milk subside. It will help to slowly stimulate milk.
