From what I have heard, 18 weeks is actually a good time to check, but sometimes the baby's position makes it a little tricky to confirm, so it is not unusual if the doctor asks you to come back. The most accurate confirmation is usually between 18 to 22 weeks, so perhaps give it another week or two and try again, and the image should be much clearer by then. My neighbour went for a second scan at around 20 weeks and the doctor could confirm straightaway without any doubt at all. Wishing you all the best, semoga dapat your little girl this time!
