We need to acknowledge their feelings (through empathy) and then guide them on what they can do about these feelings - you can come out with suggestions. For example when they are feeling sad, they can think about positive things like.....when they feel intimidated, they can think about how they are capable in other things too etc etc. Yo can have a simple 2-3 step guidiance that you suggest to your child that that child can use each time and with time, they will use these steps to regulatie their emotions on their own
