Should I go to GP or Gynae?

Hi, just found out that I am pregnant for the first time via at home pregnancy kit test. I don't remember when was the exact date I had my last period, only remember the month of it last happening. Base on rough estimation, I think I should be at 4-6weeks. I've seen some advice recommending to only visit the gynae at around 8 weeks. Should I visit a GP for now to confirm the pregnancy or straight away make an appointment to visit the gynae?
