Ooh congratulations on your first pregnancy! I did mine around 12 weeks at a private clinic, and honestly it was quite straightforward, the sonographer just pressed the probe on my belly to check baby's nuchal fold thickness, took a few measurements, and the whole thing took maybe 10-15 minutes. A few of us mums did ours around the same time, and everyone's experience was pretty similar, not painful at all, just bit awkward with the gel! Make sure you drink water before so your bladder is full, as it helps with the scan visibility, and don't worry if the clinic wants to do it vaginally first or a combination scan, totally normal procedure and helps them get clearer images. The results usually come out within a few days, and your doctor will explain what it means for your baby's risk assessment. It's such a relief to see baby moving around on screen!
