Gestational Diabetes Patient Education Programme
Failed my glucose test recently and was ask to attend the Gestational diabetes programme . Is it compulsory to attend the programme?

Congratulations on looking into this, it's good that you're thinking it through carefully. From what I gather, the programme isn't strictly compulsory in the legal sense, but most hospitals and clinics do push it quite strongly, especially if you've tested positive. The thing is, a lot of mums find it genuinely helpful because gestational diabetes can affect both you and baby during pregnancy, and the educators walk you through diet, monitoring, and what to watch for, so even if it weren't mandatory, most doctors would recommend you go anyway. A few mums I know have done it and said the dietitian sessions especially made a real difference to how they managed their blood sugar levels day-to-day. I'd check with your own doctor or specialist what they're advising for your situation, since every case is a bit different.

They also usually have a dietitian present to show you how to adjust your meals to manage your blood sugar safely without feeling restricted. It's highly recommended to go just for the practical tips and tools, as it makes managing the diagnosis much less stressful. Try not to worry too much—you've got this!
