If you are 17 weeks pregnant and suspect that you may have a UTI, it's important to contact your healthcare provider right away. UTIs can be treated with antibiotics, but they can also lead to serious complications if left untreated. For example, a UTI can cause a kidney infection, which can be dangerous for both you and your baby. Your healthcare provider will likely recommend that you undergo a urine test to confirm the presence of a UTI. They may also perform other tests, such as a bladder ultrasound, to assess the health of your urinary system. If a UTI is confirmed, your healthcare provider will prescribe antibiotics to treat the infection. It's important to take all of the antibiotics as prescribed, even if your symptoms improve. This will help ensure that the infection is completely cleared and prevent it from coming back. In addition, it's important to drink plenty of fluids, such as water and cranberry juice, to help flush the bacteria out of your urinary system.
