Oh, this must have been such a stressful scan to go through, please know you are not alone in this. From what I've heard, mild ventriculomegaly (around 10, 10.5mm range) is actually picked up fairly often at the 20-week anomaly scan, and many mums have gone on to have healthy babies, though outcomes really do vary depending on whether it stays mild or progresses. Someone in my mum group mentioned that the key thing their specialist watched for was whether the measurement crept above 10mm consistently or stayed borderline, since anything under 10mm tends to resolve on its own, but once it goes higher they usually refer you to a Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) doctor for closer monitoring. The trade-off with getting a detailed scan or fetal MRI is that it gives you much more clarity, some families felt it was reassuring, while others found it added more anxiety waiting for results, but most felt the extra information was worth it for peace of mind and planning. It's really worth having a thorough conversation with your own O&G or MFM specialist about the exact measurement and whether any other markers were flagged, since isolated mild cases often have a very different outlook compared to when there are other concerns alongside it.
