I haven't personally been through amniocentesis, tapi a few of my mum friends did go through it and they said the doctor explained everything clearly before proceeding, which helped ease their minds a bit. The best thing you can do right now is sit down with your doctor, ask exactly what problem they saw, what the amniocentesis is for, and what the risks and benefits are, doctors are used to all our questions and concerns, so don't shy away!
