Facial twitching

About ten weeks pregnant now and started to have random twitches on my chin today. Googled it and apparently I’m not alone. Just consistently surprised with all the unexpected symptoms I’ve been experiencing. Anybody else have symptoms they did not expect? 😅

Oh my goodness, you are so not alone in this, the random chin twitching thing seems to catch a lot of mums off guard, especially in the first trimester when your body is just doing all sorts of unexpected things! From what I've heard, it's usually just involuntary muscle contractions that come and go, often around the chin or eye area, and for most mums it settles down on its own without being anything serious. A friend of mine actually experienced something similar around the same week as you and her doctor explained it can be linked to hormonal changes and even fatigue or low magnesium during pregnancy. That said, if the twitching becomes more persistent, spreads, or you notice any weakness on one side of your face, it's really worth flagging quickly to your gynae or doctor, just to rule out anything like Bell's palsy, which while uncommon, does have a higher chance of occurring during pregnancy and is best caught early. You're doing great mama, just keep tracking your symptoms and always check in with your own doctor to be sure!
