My 8-year-old niece is an avid reader and she often reads YA novels weekly. I was thinking of getting her a YA book that is more oriented towards the Philippines and culture. Does anyone have any examples, suggestions, or preferred authors?

I recommend “Sola Musica” by Ines Bautista-Yao, Mina V. Esguerra, Chinggay Labrador and Marla Miniano. It's all about music and how to deal with change. :)
