When to test?

2nd month trying for no.2 , this time we are trying the ovulation method. Got a smiley face on clear blue ovulation kit on 22nd April, did the deed on the day itself. Today its 8DPO , feeling some cramps that felt weird. Period not due for another 7 days. Could it be implantation cramps? When should i start to test?
