Knocking/ hitting head

My 15 months old baby recently likes to hit his own head with his hand and even bangs his own head against the floor/wall. Is that normal? How do I get him to stop that?

It’s definitely not normal. Does he have any other developmental delays? It may be good to take him to a doctor for assessment.
