Is epley manuveour safe during pregnancy?

From what I've heard, the Epley manoeuvre is generally considered safe during pregnancy, but the approach does depend on how far along you are, in the first trimester it's usually done quite straightforwardly, while in the second and third trimesters the therapist would use a modified version to avoid laying you flat on your back for too long, since that position can put pressure on the vena cava. My neighbour had BPPV around 28 weeks and her physiotherapist did exactly that, adjusted the positioning and she got relief without any issues. The modified Epley is actually considered the go-to treatment for BPPV in pregnancy precisely because it avoids the risks that come with certain vertigo medications, which have their own concerns during pregnancy. That said, it's still worth looping in your own OB or a vestibular physiotherapist before going ahead, just so they can assess your specific trimester and any other factors, better to have someone who knows your full picture sign off on it.
