Whats the repurcussion of using steroid cream to treat eczema for baby?

Generally, steroid creams are usually safe to be used on babies without any adverse side effects. But I also read that too much can cause a change in skin colour? Haven't met anyone with that problem but too much of something on a delicate baby skin must not be too good in the future.
