Why vaccines are important.
Vaccines mimic the virus or bacteria that causes disease and triggers the body's creation of antibodies. These antibodies will provide protection once a person is infected with the actual disease-causing virus or bacteria.

Honestly, vaccines are a game-changer, they teach your baby's body how to fight off diseases before they actually get sick, which is why I never skip them. One of my mum friends delayed her daughter's shots and the baby ended up with pertussis, and it was scary seeing her struggle to breathe, so I'm really strict about keeping my kids' immunizations on schedule. The way it works is the vaccine has a safe version of the virus or bacteria, so your child's body builds up antibodies and immunity without having to go through the actual dangerous illness, it's like practice for their immune system!
