Any tricks on how to let your toddler take his medicine aside from mixing it with other drinks?

I always hear my sister reminder her toddler of the consequences of taking the medicine. If she doesn't take it, "Remember that time when you felt bad and couldn't play?" Then she tells her that if she takes the medicine, she'll get better and she can play or eat chocolate again because she won't have cough anymore.
