Thyroid Cancer and Breastfeeding

Hello po. I have been a Thyroid Cancer Survivor for more than 11 years now. Natanggal na rin yung 3/4 ng thyroid ko pero hindi po ako nag-undergo ng RadioActive Therapy noon.Monthly naman ang monitoring ng thyroid levels ko, especially ngayong buntis na ako.I am currently 6 months pregnant now with a baby boy po. Is it possible na mag-breastfed pa rin after all of this? Nag-woworry lang ako na baka bawal?

Ay, congrats sa baby boy mo! Honestly, this is such an important question and I think you really need to talk to your oncologist and OB together about this one, they'll know your specific thyroid situation and meds na ginagamit mo, kasi ang treatment and monitoring mo is quite unique. A few of us moms have had health concerns during pregnancy, pero thyroid cancer survivor story mo talaga needs expert input, hindi lang internet advice! Your doctors can tell you exactly kung safe ang breastfeeding with your levels and medications, so don't worry about asking them directly, that's what they're there for. Kapit lang, you've survived cancer already, you're so strong!
