My child has recently started waking up crying and looking terrified. Has anyone experienced this with their own LOs?

oh dear, was he overstimulated in the day? or just started school? my friend's LO was so shaken/traumatised with going to school, she was stuck to her mum 24/7, had nightmares, refused to eat etc. They had to drop out of school, thereafter....
