Can dye hair during pregnancy?

Hi mommies 💗, I’m in my first trimester and entering 2nd trimester soon. Can I check if touch up or dye hair colour (just a normal dark brown colour) during my pregnancy is safe ? :( the black roots appearing is kinda annoying 😭

Hey mama, I totally get the frustration with those roots! The good news is that most mums and even stylists seem pretty relaxed about hair dye once you hit second trimester, the general sense is there's no solid evidence it harms baby, but a lot of people do prefer to wait until after the first trimester just to be on the safer side. Since you're heading into trimester two soon anyway, you could hold out just a bit longer if you want peace of mind, but honestly quite a few mums have done touch-ups in early pregnancy without issues. If you really can't wait, some stylists recommend ammonia-free or more natural dyes as a gentler option, and making sure there's good ventilation when you do it. That said, it's definitely worth having a quick chat with your gynae or midwife about your specific situation, they know your health details best and can give you personalised advice!

I personally dyed my hair to dark brown when I was in my mid trimester 2. I did it at the salon and requested for ammonia free hair dye. I think it’s up to your personal comfort level. Some mommies will say no, some are okay with it. Ultimately, you see if you’re okay with it?
