Prenatal Insurance

Hi Mommies, Did anyone here get pre-natal insurance when you are pregnant till the baby is born? Is it necessary? What are your consideration factors? Any good insurance provider to introduce?

Just to set expectations first, no local insurer in Singapore actually covers full maternity costs like consultations and normal delivery; what's available here is really pregnancy complications coverage, so it's worth knowing that going in. That said, a few options do stand out: AXA has two plans worth looking at, the Happy Mummy bundled plan comes with a life plan transferable to your baby with no underwriting, plus a guaranteed hospitalisation plan, which is quite useful if your child ends up having pre-existing conditions later. AIA Family First Baby is another all-in-one prenatal option people mention, and if you're on an expat package, BUPA tends to get good feedback for broader coverage including delivery and NICU. My lean would be to think about what happens after birth, the ability to transfer coverage to your child without underwriting is honestly one of the more compelling reasons to go bundled, even if standalone looks simpler on the surface. Coverage generally kicks in from 13 weeks, so don't wait too long to decide.
