I totally understand this concern because when my first was born, we also had a small flat and could not fit a live-in helper at all. What worked really well for us was hiring a part-time nanny through word of mouth from other mums in our estate, and we just fixed a morning schedule that suited everyone. My friend also tried a home-based infant care arrangement where a registered caregiver looks after a small group of babies at her home during the day, and she said it felt very personal and the auntie was really attentive. You can also check with your polyclinic or community centre as they sometimes have notice boards or can point you to local resources for part-time childcare support. Hope you find something that works well for your family soon, you are doing great figuring all this out as a first-time mum lah.
