Hi I think my child is bow-legged. Is there any ways to certify that or what do I need to do about it?

If you baby is just starting to learn how to walk, it is quite common for him/her to look bowlegged. This is because babies tend to bend their knees to help support their body and to balance. Also, most babies are born with some degree of bowleggedness due to the lack of space in the womb. Their legs will straighten with more walking. Unless your baby’s legs are extremely or unequally curved, it shouldn’t really be a cause of concern. Also, if your baby’s legs have not straightened by two years old, then it may be due to other conditions (e.g., Blount’s disease or bone dysplasias, fractures etc). However, if you are worried, you can bring your baby to a pediatrician. The doctor will be able to check for bowed legs by measuring the distance between the baby’s knees while he is lying down.
