Scoliosis at age of 3

Hello! Have any mummies have experience where your 3 year old daughter has scoliosis? It hit me hard when yesterday went to see orthopaedic doctor at NUH and after done xray found confirm scoliosis and they mention at her age is rare. What should I do? I too have scoliosis and found out about it when I was in secondary school. #advicepls

Oh mama, first of all, please don't panic, I know it's a shock but you caught it early and that really counts for a lot. A few of us in my mum group have gone through scoliosis journeys with our kids, and the consistent advice was to get a second opinion from a paediatric orthopaedic specialist, since early-onset scoliosis in toddlers can sometimes need a different approach than the teenage kind, things like serial casting or a brace rather than just monitoring. Someone in my mum WhatsApp group mentioned there are support communities here in Singapore specifically for scoliosis families where parents share real experiences about non-surgical management options, which might help you feel less alone in this. Since you have scoliosis yourself, do let the doctor know, as your own history might actually give them useful context for managing your daughter's case. Definitely keep working closely with your NUH specialist and don't hesitate to ask for a referral to a paediatric scoliosis team if you feel you need more guidance, you're already doing the right thing by being proactive so early.
