Epidural after spinal surgery

Hi FTM here currently 33 weeks. I’m considering natural birth with epidural. However I had lower spinal surgery done in 2017. Gynae say epidural may or may not work on me due to this. Could be 100% work, 50% or nothing at all. Theres no definite range / answer. Basically wouldn’t know until I get it because in a way, we don’t know the “network” around my spine there. Anyone experience this before? What was your decision in the end? Anyone did natural birth with laughing glass only no epidural? How was it?
