I find that the easiest way to overspend is through grocery shopping. Despite that, it is also easy to cut costs simply by planning and budgeting your grocery trips well. I plan my household meals on what is on sale that particular week. When there is a sale on items that can last long or can be frozen, I usually stock up e.g. frozen chicken breasts. Having a weekly meal plan written down also helps for you to envision your shopping list and stick to the budget. I also shop house brands for certain miscellaneous items like hand soap, dish washing soap and other accessories. I also take note of coupons, discount cards and discount codes I find on the internet.
