Aiii sayang, honestly ya dengan GDM memang most doctors prefer to induce by 38 weeks, bukan necessarily wajib dalam sense boleh langsung refuse, tapi it's really the safer move for you and baby. GDM babies tend to be bigger and there's higher risk of complications macam shoulder dystocia or breathing issues kalau labour goes too long naturally, so doctors err on the side of caution lah. Some mums I know dah sampai 38 weeks dengan GDM, they just go with the induction, a few had smooth IOL, a couple said contractions intense but manageable once the drip going. That said, since this is your first baby, the induction process pun needs patience, sometimes it takes a few rounds before baby ready, so mentally prepare yourself for that. It's worth having a proper chat with your doc about what to expect step-by-step, whether they're doing cervidil/pessary first or straight to oxytocin, and what your pain relief options are lah.
