Anaesthesia pre op consult
Hi, does anyone went to this consultation before ?

Oh I really feel you on this, the pre-op consultation can feel a bit nerve-wracking when you're not sure what to expect, so let me share what I know! Basically the anaesthetist will sit down with you before the surgery to check your health, ask about your medical history and any medications you're on, then walk you through the type of anaesthesia they plan to use and the risks involved, it's actually quite thorough and reassuring once you're in there. Someone in my mum group mentioned that for their child's procedure, the anaesthetist was very patient about explaining everything and even discussed pain management for after the surgery, which they really appreciated. The consultation is also your chance to ask all your questions, so do jot them down beforehand, things like whether you need to fast, what to avoid, and what to expect when waking up. Most mums I know felt a lot calmer after the consult, so try not to worry too much going in!
