Baby is not sleeping

My baby is not sleeping even after latching & formula. He is demanding for more and is now drinking every 30mins to 1 hour. What should i do? Even if he finish eating, he just wouldn't sleep. 😭😭😭

Oh mama, hang in there, this sounds really exhausting but honestly it's quite common in the early weeks! It could be cluster feeding, where baby genuinely needs more milk due to a growth spurt, or it could be comfort nursing, where baby is latched but not actually drinking much (you'd notice fewer swallows and a more irregular sucking pattern), the two can look similar but the reason behind it is different. My friend went through the same thing and said the turning point was learning to tell the difference between a full feeding versus baby just snacking, if feeds are very short and frequent, baby might not be getting enough at each session to stay full, so trying to keep baby awake and feeding longer each time before unlatching can help stretch the gaps a bit. Cluster feeding tends to be most intense in the afternoons and evenings and does ease off, though it can come back around growth spurts, so knowing that it passes helps mentally. That said, since he's also not settling even after feeds, it's worth mentioning to your PD or a lactation consultant just to rule out anything else going on, they can assess whether he's getting enough and give you guidance specific to him.
