Oh mama, hang in there, you're definitely not alone in this! Quite a few mums I've heard from had the same thing where baby feeds so much better during dream feed because they're calm and not overstimulated, so it actually makes sense why he drinks well then. The arching and screaming during waking feeds could point to something like reflux or feeding aversion, so it's really worth getting that checked out properly rather than just switching bottles and formula on your own. Since he's hitting 6 months, some mums have also found that starting solids helped take some pressure off the milk feeds, and gradually you can look at reducing the dream feed amount little by little as his daytime intake improves. Every baby really does move at their own pace with this, so try not to stress too much, but do loop in your PD soon so they can rule out anything that needs proper attention!
