Coughing with phlegm
My 5 weeks old child is having cough w phlegm. Went to the doc and she said if cough persist in a week or theres fever, bring to hospital. Its been day 4 now and baby still coughing. Any home treatment remedies?

Oh, I really feel you on this, having a 5-week-old with cough and phlegm is so stressful, especially when you're just counting down the days and hoping it clears up soon. At that age, the main things that genuinely seem to help are using a cool-mist humidifier in the room (change the water daily so bacteria don't build up), and using saline nasal drops with a baby snot sucker to clear the mucus before sleep, a lot of mums say this alone makes a big difference for nighttime rest. My neighbour brought her newborn to the PD and was told the same thing, that keeping the air moist and the nasal passage clear is really the safest route for such a young baby since you really cannot give them much else at this age. Since your baby is only 5 weeks old and it is already day 4, I would not wait out the full week if you feel something is off, trust your instincts and loop back with your doctor sooner rather than later, especially if the cough sounds worse or feeding is affected.
