2024-05-06My baby just turned 1 and the polyclinic doctor mentioned I could start introducing UHT milk. For my baby doctor says I can give 500-750mls of milk/day. I thought formula milk is better since it has all the necessary vitamins for baby? Anybody still gives formula milk? And how much are you giving? I noticed the recommendation on the formula tin says 2 feeds per day. But I feel that’s too little? My baby is on the smaller side, 8kg, polyclinic nurse says it’s fine. So I thought the formula milk would be a good supplement for weight gain

2024-05-06Is anybody experiencing the same thing? My 8.5 month old baby keeps waking up at night and can’t settle on his own. This happens irregularly - some nights every 1-2 hours, some nights he’s able to sleep for 4-5 hours stretches. He just recently drop from 3 to 2 naps (1 week ago), but even with previous 3 nap schedule he was waking up in the middle night a few times too. Especially between 4-7am, his sleep is so light I have to carry him for him to stay asleep, if not he will wake up too early in the day. He also started having preference of a caregiver putting him to sleep - when I’m not the one putting him to sleep he will fuss and cry for awhile. I’m not sure what to do 😭

2024-05-07Hi I'm a sahm since Jan 2023. I'm currently caring for my 16m and 3m baby. I have plans to start working part time so that I can have time for my kids. My husband works 6 days and both mine n his parents are working full time, so no one can take care of my kids if I work since I haven't put my kids at infant care yet. 2024-05-07This might sound crazy but I’ve been having nausea all day for the past couple of days (5w+5), I’ve tried eating multiple small meals, bland foods like porridge, crackers, yoghurt and berries, but nothing really stops the nausea unless I eat something unhealthy. So far what made them go away were Mee rebus, satay, ba chor mee, so anything with a strong flavor profile will make the nausea go away for a couple of hours after. But if I eat bland foods, no matter how much, the nausea still lingers. Is this a thing?!

2024-05-08I’m a mum of 2, my first born is now 3 and my second is 2 months young. I breastfed my first for more than a year, mainly pump and feed, and latch only for comfort. Now the breastfeeding cycle is back, and tbh it is damnnnn tiring.. I don’t enjoy it. To me it’s like a chore, very time consuming and I will have curfew, I can’t enjoy my outing because at the back of my head it’ll be all the time schedule for the next pump. Not just that, the engorgement is a bytch! Omg! Currently at 2 months pp, I’ve dragged my pump intervals to 6 hourly, 10 mins each side so I don’t trigger to produce more milk, and I will have about 100-150ml in total for every session. Now, I’m thinking of dragging my intervals to 8 hourly. But I’m in dilemma of doing it.. I feel guilty for my second born.. because if I do drag, I will produce lesser and lesser which means she will not have breast milk for as long as her brother. Can mummies out there share your thoughts. What do you mummies do?

2024-05-09Anybody's baby spit up a lot more after feeding breastmilk and spit up less when fed formula milk. Just checking if I am the only one facing this. Baby 1mth 16 days and if I feed her purely breastmilk or feed more than 4 times of breastmilk per day, she will become restless during her sleep, cry a lot and spit up more than 10ml of milk. She doesn't spit up or cry as much when we feed her formula milk. I am not sure if it is because there is something wrong with my breastmilk. Currently feeling like a failure and guilty because family is questioning the quality it my breastmilk. Thinking if I should just feed only formula

2024-05-09My daughter is 4 and attends pre-school half day. She is a happy, imaginative and active child at home, but not very open to people she doesn't know well (getting her to say Good Morning to strangers can be a struggle sometimes). Recently she came home from school telling me that the other kids from her 'girls group' don't want to play with her anymore. She repeats that for days now. She doesn't give a reason, just says they say 'no' when she asks to join a game or sit next to them etc. She then goes off and plays alone. I spoke to the teacher about it and she said that because my daughter is only half day and not full day, the other girls, who are mostly full day, bond deeper and I should consider sending her full day as well. I am trying to tell her that she should make new friends in class, that there are other kids she could play with but she doesn't want to. Either they are boys and play rough or they are too young, or they speak a different language or etc etc. When we are outside at a playground she rarely approaches any kids by herself and even is shy when we meet friends with kids she knows. I am wondering what I can do to make her stronger so she stands up for herself and makes new friends. Her personality is more shy and quiet - I am aware I cannot change that but what can I do to support her? (It might well be that this hurts me more than her)

2024-05-09Does baby have milk preference? I think my baby does 🧐 from the way she finishes her milk. My baby is on BM in the day and FM at night, when a 100ml BM is served, it will take her 2/3 times to finish the milk. For example, 10am I feed her BM, she will drink 40-60ml, so I will keep the remaining back to the warmer, and feed again within an hour. The cycle repeats, I don’t see her finish the BM at one go unless she is super duper hungry. But during the night or when we go out, she finishes the FM at one go. Or maybe some little left over. Sometimes she will also drink 40-60ml and I will keep warm the remaining like how I do for BM. Am I overthinking? Isit due to the amount of milk she can intake or maybe really she prefers FM?

2024-05-11I’ve been having SPD since end of first trimester. It’s been quite hard for me with the pain and fatigue. My iron levels have significantly dropped as I don’t consume much red meat. Never saw the second trimester boost in energy. Been feeling down lately.. it’s been hard to walk cos of the pressure of the bump, SPD. Husband says I can control my feelings and body. He says I keep using pregnancy card as a reason to how I’m feeling. He doesn’t understand even understand that when I’m hungry, it’s a different kind of hunger.
