2023-05-29Hi im a FTM, working full time and EDD mid sept 2023. I only know im entitled for 16 weeks maternity leave but im not sure how it works. Does it only start after ive given birth or i can start a week before EDD? And how early do you start taking leave before EDD? Can we request for Hospital leave from KKH, for 1-2 weeks before our EDD ? Or some mummies dont take leave before EDD and only when you start having labour signs ? 2023-05-29Last Sun I start to bleed and went to see gynae and was informed pregnancy only at week 5 with water bag seen. Dr prescribed duphaston and aspirin and gave me MC for bed rest. Been a week and still bleeding even though is started from 4 panty liner to now about 2 panty liner a day. I’m so worried as I have a miscarriage in March. Is that normal? My 11.5 month old has been taking his 2nd nap so late cos he refuse to nap/sleeping for like only 30mins for his 2nd nap/ skipping his 2nd nap completely for the past 2 weeks. 2023-05-29Hi, im have something that has been bothering me alot lately…. Currently in my 2nd Trimester& Fyi This is my 2nd pregnancy… So everyday in the afternoon i will have my nap after my nap when i wakeup my upper body will ache after the nap randomly ( not all the nap） then my body will start feeling v uncomfortable and uneasy . Then i will vomit , tbh idk if is it bc my tummy got issues or my gastric got problem that causes the vomit . So after i vomited I totally no appetite at all i dont even know if im hungry or not bc i dont wanna eat anything… & I feel totally fine no vomit etc during 1st trimester, but now the problem comes out of random. & is always the nap that cause problems to me not night time sleep wakeup then feel uncomfortable is always the afternoon nap Usually people have this kind of symptoms during their first trimester mine like all @ 2nd trimester….. Now i dam traumatise to take my afternoon nap due to all this sudden problem Anyone encounter such things also?

2023-05-30Hello, mummies. I would really appreciate some advice regarding the decision to hire a confinement nanny. As first-time parents, my husband and I are feeling a bit uncertain about how to handle a newborn and manage the confinement period effectively. However, my husband seems to think that it would be a waste of money to hire a confinement nanny because he plans to take his one month of paternity leave and take care of both me and the baby. While I value my husband's support and his belief in his ability to care for us, I have some reservations. He has no prior experience with newborns, and I'm concerned that he might not be fully aware of all the specific needs and requirements during the confinement period additionally he tends to adapt to situations as they arise and doesn't typically engage in extensive research on such topics. He also mentioned that his mother, who raised him and his siblings, will be knowledgeable about handling babies and can cook confinement food using herbs and meat. However, I worry that while their intentions are good, they may not possess the professional expertise required to handle the baby correctly, which could lead to disagreements and compromise my much-needed rest and recovery. Moreover, I have come across information suggesting that improper confinement practices may lead to long-term health issues in old age. Considering this, I firmly believe that hiring a confinement nanny is not a waste of money. Their professional guidance can help ensure that outdated practices or superstitious beliefs, such as feeding the baby TCM/water or other old wife tales, are avoided and that the baby's well-being is prioritized. I would greatly appreciate any advice on how to effectively communicate my concerns to my husband and help him understand the importance of having a confinement nanny or how can I go ahead without a confinement nanny and still ensure that I will be at ease to go with his way for myself and my baby to be in my husband and in law care?

2023-05-30I caught the flu, cough and sore throat recently and am 14 weeks pregnant. I think a fever is coming too although the last I measured it was 37.3 degrees so not considered fever yet. I have a normal temperature of 36+ normally so this is higher than normal for me. GP gave me chlorpheniramine (anti histamine) which I guess is for the flu. I’m allergic to painkillers like panadol / paracetamol so I can’t take them. Wonder if I should see another GP.. I called by gynae but only got advice from the receptionist who told me to take off the counter medicine but I read online that they are not safe for pregnancy so I’m confused. What should I do? Am worried the illness will affect the baby. Appreciate some advice! #firsttimemom #advicepls

2023-05-30Sharing my story in case some mamas are facing the same situation. I found out I was pregnant (5 weeks old) 4 days before my Europe trip (2 weeks long). Went to Gynae because I have brown discharge and needed advice whether I could travel. Doc gave me duphaston for my spotting. After discussing with my family, I proceeded to travel. My symptoms were mild but spotting didn’t stop. After 2 weeks I came back to SG and went to do a gynae scan. Heard my baby’s heartbeat for the first time 🥰. Gynae gave me injection to stabilise the spotting and asked me to monitor. Hope I’m able to give some clarity to mamas experiencing spotting + thinking whether to travel during first tri

2023-05-31My baby is 27days old and I am feeding her natureone premium formula. Her stool today is more form than other days and she did not have a bowel movement yesterday. She also appear to be straining a lot when passing this stool. Last week, there were 2 days of this type of stool but small amount followed by her soft mushy yellow stool. Otherwise, rest of the days stool is soft and mushy. Is this constipation normal? Also, should I consider changing her formula? My supply is low hence supplementing with formula.

She can stand up very confidently, but I'm wondering how do i train her to walk when we go to public places? 2023-05-31Have you ever felt like you tried your hardest to calm your own child down and no matter what you did, be patient, be calm, letting them release their tantrums and listen to them; yet still after all that your child is still not calm. But when someone else took him/her away instantly quiet and okay. I have and I feel stupid and useless. It’s like I am not my own child’s mother. I feel like I can’t even calm and control my own child. Like as if I’m not defeated enough by my own child that I cannot make him/her stop crying, keep calm and what not. After seeing that he/she able to be quiet after taking away by someone… I felt more defeated. I felt more useless. I felt so hopeless that I’m questioning myself if that is my own child. I don’t know. Maybe I’m over thinking, but don’t act as if you never over think about all this. Maybe I’m just overworked, but don’t tell me you have never felt this before. He is a baby who relies heavily on his senses, which means that he will put anything and everything in his mouth (despite my bestest effort to tell him not to and to stop him from doing it). I’m just worried that he’ll eat sand or drink the ocean water haha. He has alr put leaves, rocks, dirt, bubbles etc (the list is long) in his mouth. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m glad nth has happened so far. 2023-06-01Thought my nausea is gone after 15/16 weeks... Now the nausea and vomitting is back for revenge. 😭 I've been keeping the nausea at bay by constantly drinking water and eating tiny meals. I drink so much water I fear I overdrink. But just stressing myself a bit, or smelling something bad (e.g going to toilet) will just invoke vomitting. 2023-06-02Hi, I’m a little worried. It’s been 3 months and my baby can’t seem to have long/proper nap in the day. Is this normal? He sleeps well at night,But im a little concerned about his day nap. He’ll wake up every 10/15mins and look ‘refreshed’ with no intention of sleeping back… but after a while he’ll cry because he’s cranky and tired his eyes look sleepy. I’ll breastfeed him, he falls asleep and nap… i’ll settle my stuff like quick shower/lunch/toileting… but not long later he’ll wake up. He’ll continue this nap wake up nap wake up but hardly a 30/45mins nap let alone a 1hr nap. He sleeps well only at night. Why is that so? It it because he senses that its not night so it’s not sleeping time? Or he realises/can sense im not beside him? He sleeps about roughly 10hours or less per day. Will that affect his development? 2023-06-02I'm in 22 weeks through my pregnancy. Recently went to see doctor for excessive bloating and gas with constipation. But i feel better after completing my course of medication. Since then i have been having weird sweet taste at the back of my tongue. And it was coated with yellow residue.
