2023-05-08Hi Mummies, I have a question on the night time sleeping pattern of my 7 weeks old baby boy. As the night time starts, I feed the baby and put him to sleep and he sleeps for a stretch of 4 hrs. After that I feed him again and then he sleeps only for 2.5 hrs and will get up and will be hungry again. Is this a normal pattern ? Sleeping for a stretch of 4 hrs once and then getting up every 2.5 hrs? Any mummies who experienced this? Can please share your experience? #firstbaby

2023-05-08My EDD is coming soon, I always tot I will end up going for c-sec but so far the assessment appear ok for natural delivery and my gynae encouraged it since its my first baby. I am now keen too but I am nervous as I have not been deliberately exercising in the third trimester as it is just too heavy and physically taxing to move around, plus breathless. I read about all the squats, lunges, birth ball twisting, breathing etc that we need to do. Hence I am not sure if I can survive the natural delivery even if i start now at 35 weeks. For mommies who have done natural delivery before, did you do intensive exercises or things like perineal massages to prepare for natural birth? When is too late to start and how much did you do? Does baby head size also determine the likelihood you will tear ?
2023-05-08Ill be going for my glucose test @ KKH next month and not sure what to expect. Only know i need to fast and therell be 3 blood test. Any tips to not vomit out, as ive been hearing alot about it. And are we allowed to take sips of water after drinking the glucose ? #advicepls #firsttimemom

2023-05-08Currently under KKH subsidy. And still thinking if i should change to private gynae (still under kkh) when i reach 3rd trim and is it worth it ? I honestly dont mind the changing of gynae as of now (20w) but not sure how it’ll go for the next few checkups. And is there a big price difference for consultations between subsidized and private? 2023-05-08From my 20w detailed scan i went last week, doc said baby is breech and not head down which i know is very common and baby still have time to change position. But usually at which week will baby change position to head down? And how do we know baby has changed to head down? #firsttimemom

2023-05-08Hi mummies, my child is 8 weeks old and recently she has been having bowel movements only once every 3-5 days. Sometimes I see her straining but nothing comes out. And when she really does poop, she screams and strain in much pain. She just pooped and this is her stool. Does it look like constipation? 2023-05-08This is my first pregnancy, still abit lost as to how many pieces of clothes newborns need. ive googled that they dont need much as theyll grow fast, however im still not sure as to roughly how many pieces i need to buy (assuming i wont have any hand-me-down clothes) - short sleeve onesie - long sleeve onesie - zipper sleepsuit - muslim cloth/swaddle Is it advisable to get top and pants or just stick to onesies for newborn? And do mummies also buy 3-6M clothes at the same time or at a later stage? #advicepls #firstbaby

2023-05-08Hi Mummies, My 7 weeks old baby boy sleeps for very less duration in day time. On some days he will sleep only for 15 mins to maximum 1 hr and will get up on its own. 2023-05-08Not sure if this is considered a good problem, but my 5 week old baby is sleeping for >3h each stretch, even during the day. Should I wake her up for feeds and/or play time? She currently sleeps for 3-4h, wake up for milk, then falls back asleep after. Only time she is awake is if we head out for lunch - for such instances, she is usually awake during the entire duration of 2-3h, then is back to her 3-4h sleep times once we are home. Or is my lunch time considered her “play time”, so it’s ok to let her sleep according to her own schedule?

2023-05-09Hi, my wife is 9 weeks pregnant and under the subsidised route in KKH. We are planning to shift to private down the road as the wife has some gynaes in mind. We are trying to figure out which would be the best week to make the transition to private and whether the antenatal packages are indeed more cost-effective than per visit payments. For KKH I understand that there is an antenatal package starting from week 20 while NUH has a package starting from week 22. I have not come across any package from SGH. We are fine with shifting to private in week 28 or 30. Just want to know whether it's worth moving to private earlier in weeks 20 or 22 because of the packages. 2023-05-09i’m currently in my first trimester (week 8 to be exact) and i haven’t been feeling the best. i cry so easily at anything and everything, nauseous, unexplainable fatigue, lack of appetite, and the list goes on. telling myself that it’s okay to not enjoy every moment of this journey, and that a bad day is a bad day. it is so mentally and physically draining 😔 i hope things get better for all the mummies going through this.

2023-05-09Petite pregnant mummies, how do you overcome the challenges of pregnancy due to being small? I have a narrow (like 62cm narrow) and long ribcage (thus a very small torso) and only at 20 weeks, I'm already looking very pregnant. Not only that, but I feel like my ribcage is constantly stabbing into my organs, causing regular pain. I constantly feel ribcage pain, esp on my right rib, sometimes I even suspect that it may actually be my baby pushing its leg strongly on my rib because it has no space. I feel like I constantly have to sit straight and cannot hunch and its making my back very tired. Even when I'm sitting extremely straight, it still feels like my organs are being stabbed into. 😭 how am I going to survive another 20 weeks of this? 2023-05-09Hi all, our 11 week baby is suddenly struggling and pulling away from the bottle, we haven’t had this issue in quite awhile. His past feeds have usually been quite smooth except when he was colicky, furthermore he’s taking almost twice as long to finish his feed now. He’s feeding about every 3-4 hours so it should be normal. We did recently change to the non-HA version of Nan milk, replacing about 3 feeds in a day to ease him into it. Could that be the reason? Any advice or experience would be appreciated!

2023-05-10Hi, any pregnant mums with scoliosis and having very bad pain on your back and shoulders? :( I have mild scoliosis with an S-curve spine. Before pregnancy, I occasionally has sharp pain on my left shoulder and ache on my right upper back. I believe it is from the curve to the right that pulls the muscles/nerves on the left. I’m at 21 weeks now and for the past 2 weeks, the pain has become very bad especially at night, to the point where I cannot sleep at all. Tried massaging, putting medicated plasters, putting heat packs, taking Panadol, doing stretching, etc. but the pain is still there constantly. I feel so frustrated, tired and helpless I have cried for many nights.. and I’m only midway through my pregnancy. I cannot imagine if I have to bear with this pain for another 4 months. Does anyone share a similar experience and found what helps? Or have any advice on what can relieve my pain? :’(

After hearing the news I am feeling extremely down, no appetite to eat felt like It’s my fault for not getting swap before planning to be pregnant. I am prescribe with antibiotics hoping to cure. After reading all the outcomes in google made me feel worse about myself. I talked to my husband but he doesn’t know how to advise me because literally he don’t know how being pregnant is like. 2023-05-10Hi Mummies, My little one will hit 6 week old this week but jaundice is still an issue. NUH PD suggested to supplement with formula when I just managed to establish breastfeeding and breastfeed exclusively. I'm not keen to fall back on formula since it took a while for me to get on the momentum of breastfeeding and to have enough supply for baby. Any suggestions on feeding schedule that we can change to help baby clear jaundice faster? I'm currently feeding him 3 hourly, need to wake him up to feed otherwise he will sleep through. We did the blood tests for liver clearance and all the numbers are fine.

Coz my PIL dote the newborn baby than my son now.. lastime when i gave birth to my first LO, my PIL will give full attention to my LO, now with the new bb, i feel they no longer TLC my LO..most ridiculous thing is both my PIL hp put the newborn bb photo as screen saver... completely removed my son's pic now. 2023-05-10Hi I am at week 24 currently but could not sleep tonight due to weird stomach pain especially when i tried to lie on my left side or right side. I feel least pain when I lie flat on bed. Could not sleep because of this. Felt abit like cramping. Back feeling a bit achy as well. Is this normal? I read that you should feel the movement every 2 hours and keep track of it. Is this what you are experiencing too? Abit worried cos that is not the case for me. Either there isnt much movement from baby or i just didnt realise or feel it. Please help! Thank u!

2023-05-11I don’t mean to be unappreciative, but I don’t like the way how my mother in law says or do somethings to my LO. Like for example, she wants to help me feed. While I’m making milk, she keep saying things like “faster faster baby hungry already” or “mama so slow, baby is hungry already hor” I’m like wtf? So I pretend to “scold” my baby and said “baby must be patience, mama don’t mean to make u wait” or “mama know u hungry, but milk milk don’t come instantly” She keep urging baby to do things like faster drink milk, faster burp, faster sleep. Faster this faster that. Like hey… babies aren’t developed to follow this rhythm leh. There are many occasions where my MIL “blames” us and I keep correcting her bcos I believe my LO will listen And my mother in law keep carry baby the moment he cried. Like make 1 sound, she will straight go carry. Sigh 😔 im so worried that baby will develop the carry habit I told her before but she just can’t stop doing it. Even my husband also told her not to and she just don’t remember.

Im currently 14wks pregnant and yesterday at my scan visit at NUH, I just realised I was being charged additional $200+ for an NT Scan, on top of the standard Antenatal Scan. I was surprised the doctor who ordered the NT Scan did not ask my consent on my last visit at the clinic. She only asked if I'm keen on NIPT Test, which I told her I didn't want to. So my question is, is the doctor right to proceed with the NT Scan without my consent? I would hv understood if its compulsory or she strongly suggested as I'm already 36 yrs old. Also, I did not get any report on the NT Scan. CAN I request for all the scan photos and report as well? Thanks in advance for ur inputs :)
2023-05-11Hi Mummies, Need help with one situation I am facing recently. I breastfeed my little one but if he is hungry more after latching then I top it up with formula in a bottle. I have been doing this since he was 3 weeks old and things were fine till now. Recently I notice that when I premptively give him formula in bottle after latching, he really gets frustrated and doesn’t want to drink the bottle at all. During my detailed scan and another scan, baby always doesnt want to show side profile/face during scans (altho after a few tries doc did get measurement for nasal bone and lips). Its always looking away. The printed ultrasound pic i get is not the side profile of baby that i usually see people post online whereby youll see the pointy nose and lips. 2023-05-13Currently 21 weeks and have been feeling baby kicks everyday since 2 weeks ago. First feeling of baby is so magical~ But sometimes baby's kicks are so strong it hurts me and I keep complaining to my hubby nearly daily. I secretly wish my baby don't kick me so hard. Then came yesterday night, where entire night I couldn't feel my baby's kicks. Oh man, can't imagine he kick me so much that just span of one night of quietness and I'm feeling so worried already and make me wish my baby will just kick me, hard or not. Told me don't work la, takecare of baby. Coincidentally, I was just laid off due to covid & found out I was pregnant 2 months later. Always tell me so poor thing to put baby in infant care, later get mistreated how. So I stupidly assume, oh she's going to help takecare of baby with me. Baby arrives. Yes, she helps but mostly looking out when baby is in happy mood. Other than that, I got to figure out everything on my own. Keep telling everyone, ohh they(me&hub) are the ones that really want to have a child. So they takecare of her la. I just see see like that only Do you know how gut-wrenching that is to hear? And telling this openly to neighbours. Like as if you're talking about a pet. You keep telling people you're excited for a grandchild, but your actions say otherwise? And this is your 1st one. I thought you would be more excited. More involved. More nurturing. Just more of everything. Now that I decided to put baby in infant care, you keep pushing me to quickly get a job. It's so frustrating! That's so easy for you to say. You don't know the struggle of me trying to scrimp and save here and there just to ensure my little family is able to make do. I thought you were going to be my village mum. Just as how my grandmothers took care of me when you went to work in the past. If you're not able to do so for me, then don't. Just don't expect me to magically be able to take care of the baby while simultaneously able to find work as well. I don't need more pressure than I already have.
