- 2023-03-20I went for my fts scan at 12w6d last week. We were devastated to be told our nuchal translucency was 12mm. We have been given a 1:6 risk of trisomy 21 13 and 18. They also diagnose the extra fluid as fetal hydrops. I am in desperate need of some positive stories or people with high readings as well as the consultant has told me it will be a rarity if my baby is healthy. This is our first baby after 3 miscarriages we are both really distraught. ##firstbaby #pleasehelp
- 2023-03-20I’m currently pregnant with my second one however my first born enjoys being carried in the baby carrier. Just wondering how long I can use the baby carrier for. I’m currently still in my first trimester and the baby bump isn’t showing yet. Thanks!!
- 2023-03-20hi mummies! just want to know if anyone here drinks plain water daily during confinement? it is ok to drink right? and also wearing short sleeves shirt & shorts(with fan on but doesn't blow directly at me)instead of long sleeves😂
- 2023-03-20I’m planning to sleep train my baby girl from this weekend. She’s 4 months old and still waking up at 2am, and 5am for feed. Usually doesn’t want to go back to sleep after 5am feed. We’re exhausted and sleep deprived with occasional headaches.. I heard ferber can be done from 4 months onwards. She likes to rub and scratch her face sometimes. A little too much that I’m worried she’ll end up doing more of that when I sleep train her. Gloves I’m not a fan as she likes to put her hands in her mouth as well. And she likes to sleep without swaddling. Do I just cold turkey stop feeding and let her cry it out? She always seems to be hungry during her feeds so I’m worried she might be starving or am I thinking too much 😅 I will be doing the check ins at 2, 3 and 5 mins intervals.
Pls let me know if it’s okay to start training coz I don’t want to be forcing my baby girl when she’s not ready although I could use some sleep.

- 2023-03-20Hi! I'm currently in my 7th week and will only be seeing the gynae for the 1st time this coming Saturday.
I had some brown discharge ytd and today, and just today when I wiped 'below', the discharge was red. Its not the bleeding kind, just red sticky discharge.
Is this a cause for concern? Should I just go to a gp first prior to my gynae appt on Sat?

- 2023-03-20Hi Mummies,
I just gave birth yesterday. The birth was through emergency c section since the baby had pooped inside.
After being born, the baby is having little bit of breathing troubles as doctor says he might have swallowed some meconium inside the womb.
May I know if anybody else faced this? How much time does it take for the baby to recover ?
Currently they have kept the baby under observation

- 2023-03-20I’m 15 weeks and 4 days today and went for my routine scan, my Gynae tried to find the gender but baby’s leg was tightly close, after trying moving a bit, with a little luck, my Gynae told me he has a gut feeling is a boy, so he kept it as 90percent boy, 100percent confirmation during next appointment.
Has anyone else experienced this? And was there a change in the gender between the first and second time?

- 2023-03-21Hi Mummies,
My son was on Nan previously and drinking 150ml so that's 5 scoops of milk powder. We have to change his milk to Similac because he isn't digesting the Nan formula well. However, similac's scoop comes in 60ml. Is there any other way I can make a 150ml bottle of milk for my baby?

Once my duphaston finished, after three days, bleeding reoccured again. This time my pad was 3/4 soaked. Came back to the clinic and another Dr said thst baby is also fine. It is a threatened miscarriage.
If it reoccurs again, then there might progress to a miscarriage. Its devastating to here this. Anyone experienced this and what was your experience like?

Im looking for infant care services (childcare) now from childcare centre. I have a little problem whereby i got a slot in jan 2024. However i needed to head to work mid nov the latest. I will need infant care services during nov and dec. I found another infant care that i can enroll from oct 2023 onward. Im wondering if any mummy know if we can place baby in one infant care for 2 mths and then transfer to the preferred one which is nearer to my home.
Would love to hear any suggestions or advices =)#firsttimemom #firstbaby

- 2023-03-21Hi Mommies out there,
I didn’t lose any weight or feel any much different after I gave birth to my firstborn via caesarean with 10 sessions of postnatal massage..
Just wonder if postnatal massage is really necessary? I just delivered my second baby 3 weeks ago, and my gynae told me i can only have massage after 1 month (C-Sect again).
Base on previous experiences, e postnatal massage only helped me to relax my stiff shoulders..
And I don’t feel much bodyache during these 3 weeks so I really not sure if I should considering to have one?
Please share with me what does postnatal massage benefit? Thank you.

- 2023-03-22Its ok to stop breastmilk my mummies! Though yes the process when stopping is tough and u might feel super guilty. But tbvh, breastmilk is overrated not so much of a big deal. Ya sure breastmilk has antibodies and all but formula has got every nutrients that is needed for your baby body development which also means that eventually baby will be able to develop properly because of sufficient nutrients. Thats for me, i think i need proper rest to take care of baby happily.
Anyways here’s a article for yall to consider. If u ever decide to join me, remember to stay firm on wanting to stop breastfeeding. Good luck my friends! Don’t worry alright. Its ur body, ur decision. Not even ur husband can stop u.

In the night, he can stretch until 4 hours until the next feeding
Should I feed him lesser like 90ml?

- 2023-03-23There will be numerous hospitals in your city of residence which support maternity and childcare. Picking one among those varied options is quite challenging and very important decision to make in the journey of pregnancy. For better clarity and understanding, do read my post on "How to choose a maternity hospital - in my experience " if you haven't seen it yet.
My gynae was affiliated only to three of the maternity hospitals in Singapore, namely Mount Elizabeth, Mount Alvernia and Thomson Medical Centre. We had to look into the different criteria as mentioned in my earlier post, to pick the most suitable one for us. We chose Mount Alvernia from among the three. Below are the key pointers that helped us to arrive at a clear and quick decision.
- Mount Elizabeth was never in the picture as we felt it was quite expensive compared to all other hospitals, although it had one of the best facilities, care & attention and provided sophisticated accommodation.
- The debate was between Mt.A or TMC. The second wave was going on that time so the hospitals no longer had any personal maternity tours. There were only virtual sessions. Mt.A had a free zoom session for which you can register in advance and you will get the meeting invite to your email. Thomson Medical only had a detailed video online and for doubts/clarifications we had a helpline number to contact.
- We attended the Mt.A's zoom session and it was quite helpful, the host was very polite and patient in answering all our queries. They shared a video showing the delivery suite, different types of maternity rooms (double sharing, single, suite, etc). They also shared a detailed package matrix which gave a clear picture of the pricing for each type of room for each type of delivery (normal, normal with epidural, C-sec, C-sec with epidural etc). We were also briefed on the allied facilities like delivery counselling, lactation consultation, parenting counselling, etc.
- We saw TMC's detailed video and called up the helpline to clarify our doubts. Their replies were polite and clear too. Package and pricing was available online.
- One of the key differentiators were the location, proximity to our residence, availability of other specialists and facilities within the same hospital, permission to bring home cooked or ordered food and finally my gynae's preference.
- TMC was slightly better in terms of price but not much of a difference. Mt.A offered ladies card to be purchased for $60 which meant 10% discount on final bill and discounts in their pharmacies and other shops in the premises. We even got free AVIVA accidental insurance covered for a year for baby and mother, complimentary prenatal massage, free Medela single breast pump upon availing the Ladies card.
- TMC back then didnt allow home cooked food or ordered food from outside while Mt.A was open about that. Since we preferred vegetarian food we wanted to consider this factor just in case hospital food doesn't suit we can always order from outside
- Mount Alvernia is a multi speciality hospital so in case of emergency during delivery, the other specialists will be available for immediate assistance. My gynae preferred Mt.A for this major reason. In fact in my experience they managed to arrange for the epidural immediately after I requested for it. The anesthetist came in no time although I didn't choose epidural in advance.
- The rooms and delivery suite also looked better in Mount Alvernia after comparing the videos shared.
- Another important reason was that there was construction going on near TMC during that time for the TEL I suppose, because of which there was traffic jam while heading to the hospital. And there will be noise too. So we decided on Mt.A, although some internal construction was going on we didn't hear much of a sound during our stay or in the delivery suite. Mt.A is positioned in a locality where there is no much of a traffic jam or rush to head to the hospital. There was a shuttle bus from Bishan MRT to Mt.A every 30 mins (if I am correct).
With all these factors and criteria in mind, we decided on Mount Alvernia and we are quite sure that we made a wise decision as the delivery went smooth and the stay was very very comfortable. I received good care and attention during labour and during the hospital stay as well. I will definitely write a detailed post on our experience in Mount Alvernia which will give you sufficient information to supplement. Best wishes to all expecting mommies out there to have a safe smooth delivery and happy parenting henceforth.

I don’t want to introduce bottle this early - it will obstruct the latching that is established now

- 2023-03-24I had my first prenatal check up today. And it is very fast compared to my previous pregnancy check up from my home country where the dr will really check everything and educate me well.
The dr did ultrasound to me transvaginal even though im already 8 weeks. And the ultrasound paper that im supposed to be excited to was not on my expectation. It doesnt written my name and other details like weeks heartbeat and all.
The dr also didnt give me additional vitamins as she asked me if im taking folic and i said yes. She said ok. Then i asked if she will give me more vitamins she said no, your vitamins is fine.
All in all from ultrasound to consultation is less 5mins. I am disappointed as i am together with my partner and we are both so much excited with everything about the baby. #advicepls

- 2023-03-24Hello mummies/mummies-to-be! The sides of my upper body of my back (same level as to where my chest is), hurts a lot when i woke up this morning. When i press on the area, it aches a lot. I will also feel the ache when i hunch forward or lift my arms up. Only those specific areas are in pain, the rest of my back isn’t. Is this normal and what is probably the cause of it? What can I do to reduce the aching? Thank you! #firsttimemom #advicepls

- 2023-03-24FTM here and almost 18 weeks. Been feeling some rolling and twitching sensation in my tummy for a few weeks now. More obvious when lying down. And very obvious usually after dinner. Is this baby movement? Or am I just gassy and thinking too much? 😅

- 2023-03-25Hello fellow mummies, I’m currently 13 weeks and 4 days pregnant (1st pregnancy) and I’m feeling so many different things. Can any mummies who experienced the same thing share your experience?
1. My first Pee in the morning is so slow and it always starts off with just a few drops.
2. My stomach is huge at 13 weeks! Should this be a concern??? I think I look more like 4/5 months into the pregnancy
3. I can feel my stomach stretch, but more so at the top, above the belly button! I saw a few posts where mummies said they felt it more at the bottom.
4. How do you know that your baby is growing well? 😭
- 2023-03-25Any lactation consultant to recommend? I saw posts on Sister Kang from Mt A but it’s a few years back.
My milk supply 9 days post delivery is only at 10ml with no engorgement.
- 2023-03-25Hi Mummies,
Wanted to ask if there is a smaller size tin available of S 26 Gold Pro infant formula milk ?
Where can I buy it ? I looked at cold storage, guardian every where but only see 900g one.
Does any mummy know if there is any smaller size available and where can I buy it ?
Thanks mummies 🙏

- 2023-03-25Is my ultrasound scan normal? Saw someone posting about only finding out her baby has down syndrome during birth as the doctor did not detect it before. She said she looked back at her ultrasound and realised her baby has short/no nasal bone. My hubs assured me saying that the baby has not developed features yet. Should i see a the baby’s nose in my FTS? Btw i only did FTS and everything was low risk so i did not do NIPT. Now im abit worried

- 2023-03-25I always have a fear of swallowing pills, and I just can’t swallow my fish oil, multivitamin, calcium pills etc. I will try so many times to no avail and make my stomach very bloated with all the water. Even after cutting in half, I still can’t swallow cos of phobia. Tried crushing and mixing with water, but I threw it up the moment I swallowed it down.
Anyone tried chewable options that’s as effective, or have a way around it? Thanks!
