2022-05-30Here's my experience with PEM Agency nanny #1430 YU LAY KEONG 余丽娟. (We fired her on day 7). • 1st day of arrival already told my husband and my MIL) that we can request for replacement if we are not satisfied with her services (It display her negativity instead of establishing interpersonal relationship with the family she be collaborating with) • Despite her saying if in doubt to seek clarification or discussion however this statement was later contradict (1.Placement of her toiletries in the common toilet by occupying all spaces and push away our existing ones to a corner, 2.To ensure baby is accustomed to latching on when supplement with formula, hospital have shared the use of medicinal cup feeding for the 1st week however she did not follow and keep giving excuses to use bottle feed despite specific instructions shared , 3. Request for alcohol swab to clean baby umbilical cord stump despite it not being the current practices as taught by the hospital) • Longer than adequate rest time was allocated to nanny in afternoon (she was instead occupied with browsing on her mobile with video and calls) • Circumvent me as the employer and seek permission from my MIL to go downstairs to purchase non-essential items (We have shared with her due to on-going covid19 situation and in view of baby health immunity. We would prefer her to be indoor while all household purchases are regularly replenished by my husband. We did not receive any info of her required items during her arrival and daily grocery run) • Poor hygiene standard in caring for our baby (1. Did not wash her hands prior to taking care of the baby, 2. Application of thick diaper rash cream and failure to remove existing application when the diaper is soiled which result in high probability of contamination, 3. Poo residue remained on baby body due to improper verification and cleaning) • Unable to handle night duties of caring for baby (Lethargic-always required my mother to remind or intervened first, everytime baby cry will find excuses to say all the root cause but no resolution, impatient in handling the baby- all process with regards to the baby is hastily managed e.g feeding and burping the baby, watching video loudly and talking while baby is asleep resulting in intermittent awakening of baby) • Inconsistency documentation of baby routine (such as feeding of supplement milk or breastmilk, poo,change diaper, temperature taking as per record sheet provided by PEM) • Shrinking of roles and responsibilities to assist in confinement process (Regularly pass the baby to my husband, myself and my MIL while she will retreat to the room for leisure phone usage both day and night) • Specific advisory shared on mopping the floor with detergent (1.There will always be excuses from the nanny that hot water is sufficient to clean up the oily and sticky surface after cooking, 2. Kitchen area is selectively mopped instead of the entire surface) • Specific advisory shared on washing of clothes (Nanny will like to accumulate the baby laundry load and did not wash mine and baby clothes timely, my MIL have to intervene to wash the clothes to ease the accumulation) • Accumulation of general waste in plastic bag on sink from morning till night, condiment area beside stove not wipe after cooking (Attracting pest such as flies and ants) • Pot, Pans, Kitchen cutlery, knifes, utensils were found with food remnants and oil stains • Nanny often utilized kitchen cloth to wipe her hand instead of proper hand cloth provided • Pail use for herbal bath is not wash after usage and allowing the residue to stay on • Cotton ball utilized for baby wipedown not being disposed but was mixed with baby soiled clothes • Dissemination of our baby photograph without permission sought to her outside circle via social media/instant messaging account breaching PDPA (This was only made known when she spilled the bean during casual talk with my husband) • Poor time management (Always trying to do the minimum effort instead of prior preparation) • Not a pro lactation nanny (Instead of assisting in breastfeeding journey, commented on my low supply of breastmilk repeatedly leading to low morale while not providing any guidance to improve milk supply or aid me in latching the baby) • Failure in adhering to instructions shared by employer to carry out her duties (Requiring repeatedly calling for her assistance. there is no proactiveness) • On the final day of her departure 13/05/2022 which she declared to leave only at 12pm sharp, this also written clearly in the contract clause 1.7 issued by PEM (Morning she totally does not fulfilled any nanny duties and change to her casual clothes by 1030hrs, by 1050hrs she push her luggage to the main gate plus attempt to open the gate using key on table despite reminder by me not to do so, Trying to influence us on electronic transfer of salary despite PEM instruction of cash payment by hand with salary acknowledgment receipt)

2022-05-30This have been asked a few times before but wondering if anyone has similar situation as me. As I will be returning to work in a month, my MIL who is a retiree, has agreed to take care of our baby. She is currently staying at our house and mainly helps out with the house chores like laundry, cleaning the house and cooking. I do them as well whenever I can as I do not want her to feel like she’s a helper here but sometimes my hands are just not as free as I have to coax the baby. Other than that, she’s just sitting around and free to do her own stuff like watching shows from day to late night. On weekends, my husband will be around so she does not really have to do much. She doesn’t have to cook as we will buy back or bring her out along to eat or she’ll be out for her own plans. She does not have to spend anything for the house nor the baby. As I’m on shift work and my husband has days when he’s wfh, actually my MIL will just have to take care of our baby for half a day on the weekdays. She’s just asked for allowance for taking care of the baby. Anyone able to advise the comfortable amount? Thank you! :) #1stimemom #advicepls

2022-05-30How do stay home mummies manage your kids sch fees in order to get the working mum subsidy? I'm currently going 6 months pregnant, husband income not stable and I just got a job opportunity to work pt in a maid agency. However husband says maid agency is very stress and busy hence he asks me to reject and says if i decide to go ahead he told me dont complain to him in future. The problem is I am more worried about my kid sch fees than anything else. Left my full time job when my first born is 1 years old and my savings are depleting. I managed to get special enhanced subsidy for my kid sch fees for 6 months. However I am not sure if they allow me to extend the subsidy as I'm pregnant now. On the other hand, I'm thinking it's good for me to have a pt job now so I can get working mum subsidy for my kid sch fees. Our current household finance situation is unable to cope if i get non working mum subsidy and sch fees will be $600 plus per month. Also I'm not sure how long will I be able to get a full time job after I give birth. If I managed to extend the special subsidy for this year, what will happen next year when I'm still unemployed? Most likely I will be as I'm delivering in Sept and typically need 3 to 4 months of ' self declared maternity leave'. Do you think I should listen to husband and reject the pt job? Husband can only pay for our meals and monthly utilities and sometimes groceries and milk powder. Our hdb is paying using my cpf(thanks to my years of working full time) and I pay for pampers, groceries, somtimes milk powder, visits to doctors and my gynae now, and any other that require more money. As such, I gave him partially hydrolysed whey protein milk (Similac brand) and mixed it with milo. But I find that Milo’s too “heaty” and “sweet” for him. 2022-05-31In the morning, I woke up with a sharp pain at groin area (contraction?). When I was walking to toilet, I felt like an amount of water flowing. I thought it was my urine, got a shock when my urine color a bit reddish.. I tried to pee again abt 15 mins later and got blood discharge with mucus, and as I got up, I felt got water coming out again.. I put on a pad and within an hour, not fully wet, but, got a bit brown discharge.. Is this considered early sign of labour? How long does it usually last? Btw, I also having cramp like menstrual cramps and I can feel baby is moving also.

2022-05-31LO is 3 months old is has to change formula milk due to difficulty in finding the milk due to the recall. (Enfamil). Changed to Fiscolac gold. LO able to sleep well, lil cranky but pacify him and he will be ok. He just wants to be carried. However, have yet to poo and is more than 24 hours. Tried cycle massage him as well but still no poo. Is this normal for milk transition?

I used to have a full time job for many years but have since been jobless for a year plus due to caring for my baby and now pregnant with 2nd one going 6 months..when I didn't know I'm pregnant my response for interviews are pretty good. Now no companies would want to hire as I'm in mid pregnancy. However there is this agency that says they are willing to employ me even though I'm pregnant and after discussion through whatsapp I've decided to take on the part time role as it suits my current lifestyle so that I can have time to care for my toddler after his school. Thing is this agency told me twice they are going to call me for a phone interview but also put my aeroplane twice. For the first time, I msged and asked if they are still hiring and say yes and will rearrange. But everything takes very long since I got to know this person..around 2 months now and not confirm. Recently said want to hire me and then again did not call me. I think for a business this behaviour is not reliable. The reason they gave previously is that their family fell sick and husband busy with work. The agency is owned by the husband btw. Should I trust this agency? The husband asks me to start work on a certain date, says calling me at this date and time for a phone interview but did not manage to do so again. Should I work for such agency? The reason for me to get a job is to secure the working mum subsidy for my toddler sch fees. I've calculated my finance and can still be jobless for till end of this year as I'm currently pregnant and able to get the special additional subsidy for my toddler sch fees..just worry about next year sch fees unless i can get a full time job in Jan. Today 1st June, she pooped but it looks semi solid or a lump . This is the first time it is like this. & she didnt cry while pooping. I didnt even know she pooped until morning diaper change. 2022-06-01Hi! My 1 month old baby always cry whenever I put her down. My PD say that it’s colic wind and prescribed Ridwind and Probiotics but she’s still always crying. She used to be able to sleep very well after feeding before her 1st month but not now. We tried putting her in stroller, in baby carrier, swaddling, turned on white noise, used pacifier, used anti-colic wind milk bottle etc but to no avail. It’s really causing my hubby and I a lot of stress. Any advice?

2022-06-01Hi everyone. My LO is 5 months and 25 days old. She has a fever two days ago and her temp was high. Went to see the doctor and gave her panadol syrup. I did cold pressing and put on the fever patch for her. Today her temp went down but it has been 2 days she refused to drink her milk. On 31st may, she drank milk for 3 times but each feeding is less than 50ml (her usual feeding is 100ml) on 1st of june, she drank 90ml for first feeding and 40 ml for second feeding. The other times she cried and made milk she rejected the milk. I threw the milk twice because she didnt want the milk. I have two brands of milk at home and tried both brands on her, she really didnt want to drink and kept pushing my hand away. Some said it could be teething period but im not able to see any white-ish underneath her gums. What should i do to make my baby drinks her milk? Mummies please help. After 45mins or so, i felt nauseous and vomitted. But not a lot. After vomiting im feeling cold & chilly. Is this normal? Did i vomit cos i ate obimin a few hours after eating? Isit safe to consume both daily as i've read the max dose is 1000mcg? I tried eating more fruits like orange, apple, dragonfruit, banana and also yoghurt but still was not able to return back to my normal toilet routine. My longest constipation last about 6 days. 2022-06-04Found out my baby's heart was not beating today at 25 weeks 4 days throu routine gyane appointment. Was sent to hospital to do a second scan to confirm & there is no heart beat. Report says that baby might have stop developing 22-23 weeks & legs are becoming smaller. So i have to wait another day til Monday to pass my gyane the report. I send him to infant care, he have been having runny nose and cough on & off. Went to see GP and was told phlegm is now infectious. I have friends who told me their LO have phlegm after taking lactogen but GP said milk does not have anything related. Any mummies experience this?
