2021-01-25My gynae told me she’s gonna do a membrane sweep for me next fri (at 37 weeks) to allow my body to go into natural labour as for vbac it’s not advisable to induce due to risk of rupture. She said i may or may not go into labour...so we have 3 weeks to play around to allow my body to go into labour & if it doesn’t may need emergency csect. To all vbac mummies....have u all done this before & did you all go into labour soon after that? I know every body reacts differently but just wanna know those who hv experienced it! And is it usually done abt 37 weeks? Fyi my first was a csect as baby breeched..planned for 39 weeks but had emergency one done on 37 weeks as water level low. So my body has not experienced being into labour! Thanks in advance!

2021-01-25Hello.. I am 10 months postpartum. Recently, I've been feeling what feels like kicks from my tummy. I know it sounds bizarre as if I am probably imagining gas to be similar feeling when I was pregnant. I took 3 pregnancy tests which are negative and I been having my period past 2 months. So... The kick like feeling so I am just brushing it off as gas.... But is this normal to be feeling like this? Maybe I miss being pregnant that my brain associates gases for kicks. 2021-01-26Hi all, this may be an odd question but I’m actually wondering how to deal with this. I just gave birth 2 weeks ago and am staying with my in laws. They are very nice, but I have no privacy... they come in to my room as and when - this I still can accept. But the situation is - my sister in law doesn’t stay with us and keeps coming over at 8+am in the morning just to carry my baby. She comes to my room and just carries my baby. I can’t even have morning time with her. She carries my baby more than I carry her...help. It’s honestly annoying me because we don’t get along and only after I gave birth to a girl, (she’s always wanted a girl but it didn’t happen, she has boys) she’s been coming over as though it’s ok to just pick up my baby and cradle her for hours. I don’t want my husband to get caught in the middle as well. How do I handle this? I feel like shifting out 😭

2021-01-27I would prefer sending my baby to infant care when I return to work, but my MIL says she wants to look after her. I thought we could compromise and leave her in infant care for half the day, and let my MIL look after her for the second half of her day. She is insisting that she wants to look after my baby for the entire day. I am not comfortable with it because my FIL always shouts and curse/swear at home. And she also could not tell us what will happen to her daily marketing, because we are not comfortable to let her bring my baby out, especially to the wet market. Also, I'm not a big fan of my MIL. 2021-01-27Tested negative first 2 weeks of this year. Wasn't expecting much since we did it 5 days before my period about to start. But the period never came and I still got cramps. 2021-01-27Hi, would you guys know if this kind of stool is normal for mixed-feeding baby? My baby is 3 months old and she’s on bm during the day (latch/bottle) and 120ml Enfamil formula during the night (about twice from 12am-6am). I change her diaper every 2-3hrs whether it’s full or not so on average 7-9 diaper change daily. She poops once every 2-3 days, quite a concern for me actually. And her stool consistency is always like this. I’m not sure if this is normal? Is it the food I eat? Cause I eat almost everything (guilty🙋🏻‍♀️). Could it be the formula? Should I change? 2021-01-28I gained 7kg from my recent lost-pregnancy and couldn't get back to my previous weight. Did not do much exercise as I was recovering my body and after 6 mths, now I'm ttc. Recently I felt lost in confidence when I'm not longer can fit in my old clothes and have to up in size when I buy new clothings. Even my colleagues and parents are telling me I look fatter than I'm used to be. I also have no confidence when showing my body to my husband when we are trying for baby, thou my husband keep telling me I'm not fat. It's just me that I can't get through it. I'm thinking is it safe to do some mild squats and tummy exercise to at least keep fit and hopefully I can shed some fats away during TTC.

2021-01-29Anyone skipped gifting the baby full month cake and red egg box? Not keen on it and would like advice on good excuses to skip it, thanks!! (*not looking for pro-gifting advice here haha). My very very traditional FIL is going to insist that we gift this to our biggggg extended family. Which would mean hundreds of dollars out of our own pockets. How do we best say no to him? They may be our aunts and uncles (i.e. parents' siblings) but I feel it's not necessary cos we are simply not close. Our parents and ourselves only meet them for max 2 hours a year during the obligatory CNY, or slightly more if there's a wedding in the family, and we hardly interact in between. In fact this year we cannot even meet them for CNY'21, or hold full month celebration due to covid visitor restriction rule, so our last contact with them would be CNY'20. Direct aunts and uncles but feel like distant relatives. Really not keen on the whole procedure of calling and asking for all the relatives' addresses and then either having the husband travel around the island to pass the gift box to them individually (we have no nanny or any form of help so I have to tend to newborn at home), or paying courier even more $$ to send them out. 😒 #howtosiam #additionalstress #additionalwork #additionalcost #1stimemom

2021-01-30I would like to share my experience undergoing a transvaginal cervical cerclage as there isn't a whole lot of info in here. I mainly read up online. Even though the dr told me this procedure is quite commonly used, no one I knew ever underwent such a procedure. I just went for a cervical cerclage in wk 18 of my 4th pregnancy. I lost my twins at 22 weeks 2 years ago and the entire experience was extremely painful. I had no prior history of cervical incompetence so the Dr said it could be due to the increased risks of having twins. This time round, the dr decided to take precautions and started to monitor cervical length early in the 2nd trimester. I was very fearful when the ultrasound showed some funneling, measuring at only 1.9cm. I was reviewed by the Dr and scheduled for a cervical cerclage in 3 days. On the operation day, I was really scared. I had never been in an operating room before. The surgical team was very experienced and kind to me. Everyone was professional and treated my situation with tact. Some nurses even wished me "jiayou". The anesthetist opted for a spinal anesthesia as she said baby would have minimal chemicals crossing through the placenta. However, if the pain relief was not satisfactory or if procedure if unsuccessful, I would be put under general anesthesia. The spinal anesthetic was quick and relatively pain free. They sat me up on the esge of the operating table and asked me to put my chin to chest with shoulders relaxed. After the initial injection of a local anesthetic, I felt pressure but no pain. I reminded myself to keep very still cause any movement could potentially injure my nerves. Once the needle was in place in my spinal space, they injected the medication. I felt a tingling sensation running down my legs and after 5 min, my legs felt super heavy. Then they tested the sensation with an ice pack - I had no feeling, only pressure to the area. Once confirmed the anesthetic had worked, the operation started. I felt no pain throughout. My surgeon, who was my Dr (Dr Dave from SGH) was extremely skillful. It was over in under 20min. After that, I was admitted for overnight observation pending the return of sensation to my legs. I was able to start wiggling my toes and then able to lift my legs after 3 hours. A urinary catheter had been inserted because I may not be able to pee after the op. I had a small amount of bleeding on the first night which subsided the next few days. On the next day, I had a transvaginal ultrasound to check the placement of the stitches before home. That was sorely uncomfortable. But do bear with the radiographer as they will need the details to determine if the stitch remains in place. I was able to be discharged after that. The removal of the urinary catheter was quick and they made sure you are able to pee before you leave the ward. I am now recuperating at home. 3 days post surgery and praying for the safety of my child. I hope for the best for all the ladies going through a similar situation. My heart goes out to all of you.

Blue chas card don’t mean you are poor. I used to take home $2800 with no household commitments but I have qualify for blue chas card. When I’m sharing stuff. I don’t mind if the person is poor or not. What’s matters is we share and not waste. From my opinion (first hand experience with someone who is “Low income”) gets lots of advantages from the government especially during this period. Lazy to work just apply for financial aid, reason can’t find job and declare as Low income. Where by those people working (skilled worker) hard don’t qualify for anything.

It was heartbreaking but what hurts even more was when I overheard my husband convo with his mom. He told her the pregnancy was not viable she didn't show any concern for me it's fine. But it really hurts when I heard her say "don't have also good". Husband says I'm overly sensitive am I over sensitive or was her words really hurtful to hear?

2021-01-30My baby is about 5 months old. She can flip from her back to her front but not the other way yet. She always goes to sleep on her back but in the middle of the night she will always flip and sleep on her tummy quietly and would sleep like that for hours. If I do wake up and check on her, I’d flip her back on her back but she always flips onto her tummy to sleep. I think she’s more comfortable that way. I read that it’s not good for baby to sleep on their tummies until they know how to flip back on to their backs by themselves. In such situations what should I do? Should I just let her sleep on her tummy at night? I can’t be awake the whole night to keep on flipping her.
