2021-11-01I'm 31 weeks and 5 days as of today, and something that I've been quite confused about is... How do i tell the difference between a Braxton Hicks contraction and normal cramps? I've been reading and watching videos to understand better but I'm still uncertain. It feels like I'm having menstrual cramps around the tummy area, not below. And you know how you feel some pain during menstrual cramps? I'm feeling it. But from what i gathered, Braxton Hicks should feel like cramps around the tummy area but should not hurt. So what exactly am i feeling? 😅

2021-11-01I feel so angry today when my colleague ask why I cannot carry heavy items/ bend down when he clearly knows I’m pregnant. Alright to be fair, most guys don’t know the woes of a pregnant lady, all the more he’s single. I guess it’s time to let my manager know about my pregnancy since I’m alr 12+3. Had such a difficult time trying to avoid all sorts of work that require heavy lifting and long standing. Maybe I sld have just inform from the start when I knew I was pregnant but I was superstitious. Such an agony because people only understand things from their point of view. They may label me as ‘difficult’ and ‘who does she think she is’ trying to avoid responsibilities. Well they can say/ think all they want because ultimately why should I risk my unborn child and myself just for a job? Although I still need to ensure I do not get tortured by people before I go for my maternity leave 😒
2021-11-01Hi My toddler of 18 month starts preschool today and he is on half day. The teacher told me he refuse to eat breakfast and lunch. So he didn’t take any food except water. Will there be any side effects? I am so worried as his last feed was milk at 5.30am. And he never have any food for 8 hours. When he came home his stomach was so bloated because of the gastric wind. I don’t know why the school doesn’t attempt to feed him a few spoonful of food despite him fussing and doesn’t want to take off his face mask. Or issit because I didn’t told them he still couldn’t eat fully on his own self and therefore they assume he knows how to eat on his own but he refuse? I am a first time mom so I don’t know how does it works in preschool for toddler group.

2021-11-01Hello, I'm currently at my 6th week according to my LPD. Found out I was expecting when I visited the GP for slight discomfort (e.g. nausea & the feel to vomit). Took a urine test at the clinic & turned out positive. Visiting gynae for the first time this coming Wednesday but I've been experiencing nausea all day long since last week. Sometimes I'd fall asleep (good thing) and wouldn't feel being nausea but the timing that I actually fall asleep is at the evening. Like 7pm plus and I'd wake up 2 to 3 hours later from slight discomfort and then ending up unable to sleep even at 2 to 3am. Have been eating plain crackers and drinking plain water cos other food really put me off. How do u fight the nauseating feel? It seems a long way to end of trimester 1 and I'm not sure if I can handle it. Felt so helpless that I cried last night. Also, am experiencing slight brown spotting too. 😔 #1stimemom #firstbaby #advicepls

Usually she will eat 3/4 or finished her meal but now only 3-4 spoon ful n shes done . her milk intake from 150 mls .. Now she only drinks lesser than 120mls .. Shes still active .. 2021-11-01My 6 weeks old baby is fully breastfed. She has no issue drinking and falling back asleep from her night routine. But every dingle day after her last feed at 5am, despite being tired, she will just keep making alot of sounds even though i have burp her, change her diaper, rub her tummy to clear the air, checking the temperature of room, swaddle her, She can just make the sounds all the way till sun rise. I cannot even go back to sleep 😭 any advice ! Thanks !

2021-11-02A little of our background. We are of a mix family with chinese dad and malay mom here. My husband is hoping to start my boy's kindy with chinese mother tongue as our prefferred language but we didn't expose him (3yr old) to chinese language at all as we speak mostly english and malay at home. I will always dreamfeed her around 12 or 1am and it will take about an hour for her to finish the whole bottle. She is asleep and it is very tiring to feed her. If you are not sure what Diastasis Recti is, Diastasis rectus abdominis is a separation of the left and right sides of the outermost abdominal (stomach) muscle. It is caused by forces that stretch the connective tissue called the linea alba. This condition most often occurs in pregnancy, but also may occur in infants, older women, and men. To find out if u have it, Lie flat on your back with your knees bent, place your fingers on your belly button, pointing towards your pelvis, and press down. Lift your head up about an inch while keeping your shoulders on the ground. If you have diastasis recti, you will feel a gap between the muscles that is an inch wide (~ 2 fingers) or greater.

I have not received any email or call from any of the infant care that I’ve already applied on my 7months pregnant. So i called them and they told me that my son is still under waiting list. 2021-11-03Hello, wanna check if during your first trimester, do u ever feel being v nauseous today and then feeling better the next day. Then back to getting really nauseous the following day. Like an inconsistent thingy. I felt quite OK ytd with only mild nausea and not vomitting but today, morning and now, the nauseous feeling made me gagged and puked a little of the stomach juice just now.

2021-11-04I'm 12 weeks now. Backache, no appetite, can't sleep well, sensitive to smell, dry vomit and exhausted. I Can't eat much but still gained 3 kg during my first trimester; my body size is expanding quickly, had to buy a new bra and maternity dress. Somehow I feel a slight bit depressed, like I have wasted my 2 months doing nothing like a useless person. Since week 5, I have spent most of my time in bed, like 20 hours a day, due to nausea, dizziness, headache etc. I can't walk much and can't sit for a long time. I cried a few times, l felt so lonely that I can't share my feeling to anyone. As I was trying to share my feelings with my husband and my mom, their reply was always, "Continue to stay on the bed; you need more rest".. Husband kept telling me he couldn't understand how I felt, how suffered I was, but I know he's been trying hard to calm me down. To all the mummy out there, wondering when is this going to end? I can't wait for short jogging, at least some exercise makes me feel like I'm more like a normal person. I'm going for NIPT and Oscar test tomorrow; hopefully, everything goes well. To my baby, no matter how suffered mummy was but I will never leave you. Mummy loves you and counting down the days to May 2022. ♥️

2021-11-05I know I shouldn’t worry so much but as I entered 3rd trimester, I wonder if subsequent scans will be more frequent. Currently, my standard gap is 6 weeks and I find it abit long. I’m at 28 weeks now, last scan was on 7 oct, next will be on 11 nov. Baby is growing well, active and within acceptable weight range. But I was diagnosed with gdm at 24 weeks, and doing twice a week self glucose check as per recommended. Results are more or less within range. My birth plan is natural delivery w/o laughing gas or epi, but starting to get a lil worried now. Any advices to calm the nerves? FTM here.

2021-11-05Hi i’m an unwed mother, abit different from single moms. My ex boyfriend raped me while we were staying together to get me pregnant as he really wanted a baby while i never wanted to be a mom. I told him that as a mom, i can’t stay with him as our relationship is toxic and I don’t want my child to grow up watching this type of behaviour from him. When i say i was going to leave, he choked me. At times when i wanted to break up, he refused to let me. I went to another’s guy’s house back then and he said i cheated on him because he never agreed to break up. When i said i wanted to go back to my dad’s house, he refused to let me leave. He has made threats that his friend will beat me up and they know how i look like. He said he will beat any guy i get with in the future too. Despite that, i naively gave him the chance to change. Everyone deserves a second chance right? During my pregnancy, he was incarcerated for taking drugs. I treated him as my family so I believe him when he told me that he didn’t take drugs and the officer forced him to confess. He had also been working so he didnt have time to take drugs. My doctor told me she doubt that is the truth because she have seen enough drug cases to know it doesn’t happen this way After the child is born, i was happy and thought he was doing his best to change so i allowed him to be in the birth certificate. I took his letter of incarceration to ICA so that he can be an informant of the child’s birth. And since we intend to get married, he told me to put his surname or the child is like a “bastard” and will get bullied in school. He also say it’s expensive to change the name again later on. I also decided to file the report 1-2 months later, i realized he hasn’t change. He was still selfish and only thought of himself. I realised that if that’s the case, he may rape me even infront of the child n say “oh the child won’t remember this”. I didn’t want my child growing up learning to be like his dad. I also didn’t want him to become like me an stay in an abusive relationship. Because of that, I decided to break up with my ex. Needless to say, he isn’t happy and tried to play the victim, saying he wish he can hate me but love me too much. He also hinted that i made him so unstable he had to be confined inside of DRC. I also filed a report for rape after much persuasion from my social workers After that, one of his fellow inmates got released and contacted me through whatsapp to tell me everything. He said that he saw how i did my best to help my ex change, but told me that my ex will never change and not to get back with him. My ex had confessed to everyone how he lied to me about working when he was actually out doing drugs. In the rehab Center, everyone was tryna change but my ex didn’t even seem like he wanted to. From what I remember, he had ever told me that selling drugs paid the bill (he have ever had enough drugs to get him hanged, but he was charged for consumption, not selling). He even said that during his first incarceration, he was inside exchanging contacts with people for drugs so I suspect that was what he is up to. And the worst part was how he once told me he left money around for his mom when he worked. He had lied about it and all the other inmates know. His inmate then felt like I deserve to know the truth and he told me to never get back with my ex. My ex had said he want to be in the baby’s life, but his inmate suspect he is doing that to get me to drop the rape charges against him. His inmate told me not to drop it and wished me the best. I felt like i had been treated like a fool I then went to get probono lawyers to help me with getting sole custody and no access to the child. The lawyers told me that it would really help my case if the rape case goes through. Around the same time, i got a call from my IO to inform me that the rape case fell through. According to the IO, court decided that because we were cohabiting during that time, it’s hard to prove which sex was consensual and which isn’t. I don’t have any ill intentions of wishing him to be inside for longer, but it would really help me with my custody and access case. As someone who came out of such a relationship, seeing his surname on my child’s letters bring up so much heartache and anxiety. According to the pro bono lawyers i can change the child’s name if i have sold custody. But i read that ICA may not allow a name change unless my ex agrees fo it. He won’t consent because he is trying to use the child to get back with me. In his eletter to me (late October), he said that he wish to have visitation. Maybe take the child home on weekends. We can co parent and hopefully get back together. I don’t want that because he ever told me to put alcohol in the baby’s milk bottle if the baby is crying at night. I also i don’t wish to contact him as it brings out my anxiety. I really don’t know what to do. The probono lawyers also told me not to mention that i wish to change the baby’s name as it may affect my custody case. What should i do? Does anyone have a good and relatively cheap lawyer that can help me after i get sole custody? I’m not working as i worry about the cases of covid in infant care so i don’t wish to put my child in school Also, because i can’t contact him, can i declare that he is uncontactable? He also raped me to get me pregnant. Despite all these, ICA says he need to agree to the surname and dilect change (the child’s primary race is chinese but his dilect is tamil. ICA didn’t even ask so i thought they will use common sense answer follow primary race). I don’t want to contact him because of the trauma and anxiety. I also can’t stand seeing his surname and it makes me cry. What should i do?

2021-11-05Hi mummies I’m a FTM and baby is currently one month ago. Am staying with my parents right now but will be shifting to our new house soon. Am already feeling very tired due to not enough sleep despite having my parents help in the morning so I could nap quite a bit in the morning. But am so worried if I’m able to handle once I move out. Didn’t want my husband to help feeding and caring for baby at night because he needs to work the next day so I try to do as much as I can but I can’t imagine how to manage in the day time alone next time. Any advice? In between baby’s feeds I only get to sleep for one hour each time and next time I have to cook, do housework in the day time I don’t think I will be able to get enough sleep and rest.

Nurses and LC said the max should be 30 mins as it may tear ur breast tissue but I have friends who pump for an hour saying to clear the milk so to increase milk supply. After 30 mins of pumping I still have a bit of milk leaking so I’m unsure if I should continue pumping or just wait for the next session.

2021-11-05Hi there, I need your advice. I am currently 7 months pregnant married with a 2 sons, 4 years and 2 years old. Due to this Covid our BTO will be delayed till 2nd quarter of 2022, actual date was August 2021. We are currently living in a HDB with my family, our neighbours downstairs had come upstairs 2 time, 1st was in August and 2nd was early this month. He complain that the kids was running and bouncing, my parents house is a maisonette so our neighbour bedroom will be under our living room. My children are both in Childcare, they are only at home during the morning and will be back at home in the evening, and on Saturday and Sunday. The neighbour came and told us to stop our kids from jumping and bouncing, I am a bit depressed as they doing the minimal activity jumping and running. I have put carpet and mattresses, and after 8 pm on weekdays I will put them to sleep. But as usual the kids when walking, they would do some movements and maybe the neighbour will find it disturbing. I need your advice, on whether there is any soundproof mat for me to purchase and any other ways to minimise the movement of the children walking. Thank you. 🥲

But I have a young baby who can't wear mask yet and I am especially concerned cos my parents-in-law take public transport to work 6 days a week in a place that was recently a Covid-19 cluster area, and husband's siblings go to work in a medical facility. They all shared before that they came into close contacts with covid positive people at work. They will want to see baby so we will surely be asked to bring baby along. They will interact with baby maskless since it's mealtime. They will all go straight to the birthday meal from their workplace. They may want to carry baby in their outside clothes. Mine likes to chew on things and put almost everything inside his mouth... so we've gotten him an activity centre since it's safer as the toys on it can't be pulled out. 2021-11-06I'm a FTM and my baby just turned one month yesterday. My husband managed to take a month of leave and he has been very very helpful. We take turns attending to baby at night and we do house chores together. However, sometimes I just break cos it is so difficult to take care of a newborn. The lack of sleep doesn't help. The pain of breast feeding. Sometimes makes me feel inadequate because my baby cries when my milk is too much cos she will cough and gag. It's overwhelming when she cries and nothing is able to soothe her. Sometimes I can't help but to feel so helpless. I can't help to think of how much life has changed for me and wondering why am I still struggling to adapt to my baby. I cry when I feel like I'm not a good enough mother. I cry when I have no clue on how to soothe my baby. I cry so so easily. I also tend to be moody and have no interest in things that I used to enjoy doing. Today was the first time I took care of baby alone as husband is starting work again. Everything was fine in morning and afternoon. Baby was manageable just that I didn't manage to nap cos I was paranoid that I wouldn't be able to hear or wake up when baby cries. In the evening, baby started to cry and was quite difficult to soothe her. She cried when I was breastfeeding her as of my milk supply was too much for her and she did cough. I cried cos I was so afraid that I'm just causing harm to my baby and am a worthless mother. I know I shouldn't be so hard on myself but motherhood is so difficult. I feel so drained, tired, worthless.

2021-11-06I accidentally gave my newborn more formula. I had tried a few different brands on my first child. All 1 scoop 30ml. So my second born i tried grow , my mistake i didn't read it was 1 scoop 60ml and i gave her 2 scoop w 60ml water since ytd. I just realized only today. What shld i do? She is sleeping well, not fussing only drinking lesser. Guess cos too much milk. #advicepls

2021-11-06Hi! I’m a FTM who just gave birth last week. This week was pretty tiring adapting to the confinement rules and breast feeding~! I’m still learning to cope. I understand that it is best to pump /latch every 3 hours to increase milk supply. I try to wake up every 3 hours at night for pumping but I feel that I wouldn’t have enough sleep though. Is pumping every 3 hours at night necessary at this stage? How do you manage your schedule latching or pumping schedule? Also, my baby drinks about 60ml of milk every time. How do we know if he drinks enough after latching? Thank you!
